I'm Impressed: MYRA-E TINTED MOISTURIZER Review

Here’s a review on Myra-E Tinted Moisturizer in Beige

PRICE: P135.00
PLACE BOUGHT: Free
OTHER LOCATIONS: All leading malls, supermarkets, and drugstores nationwide

THE VERDICT:

The only tinted moisturizer brand I swear by is Laura Mercier. I’ve tried cheaper ones, and it’s either they’re too watery, or too light. But I gotta give it to Myra-E. I find their Tinted Moisturizer pretty awesome.

What’s in it? Myra- E is known for their Tocopherol (aka Vitamin E) enriched products that help keep skin young- looking. Honestly, I haven’t used anything from the brand except this one. Well, I’ve tried their Myra-E facial moisturizer for around 2 or 3 days before I found my HG moisturizer, Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Moisturizer. But that doesn’t count as usage to me ‘cos using it for just a couple of days would be too early to tell if a product is good or not.

Myra-E’s Tinted Moisturizer only comes in two shades though: Ivory and Beige. The thing that turns me off from buying a product is if it only has a very limited shade range. But surprisingly, (despite the tinted moisturizers’ seemingly unimpressive shade selections) Ivory and Beige can cover a considerable range of skin tones. IMO, Ivory can cover gals with a MAC base shade from NC20- NC30, while Beige can cover girls with a MAC base shade from NC35- NC42.

Ingredients

Here’s a swatch of Ivory.

At first, the TM turns white due to the shimmery mineral pigments in it. But as you continue blending, the shimmers are being dispersed all over your face. The result is a soft and healthy glow. To those who despise shimmers, you may not like this one because the shimmers in it are kinda’ visible. But it shouldn’t cause panic because it doesn’t look glittery and reflective in pictures. I myself dislike shimmers in makeup, most especially in powders and bases. But this product passed my standards.

Here’s the swatch of Beige. It looks deceivingly light here, but in reality, Beige is two shades darker than that. Beige has a light pink undertone. But don't worry about turning gray with this product. The undertone doesn't show up at all.

Notice that the TM kinda’ disappeared on my skin, which goes to show that this has sheer coverage. No amount of layering can improve its coverage. You may use foundation brushes or stippling brushes for application, but I prefer using my fingers because I find that they work well with the watery consistency of the product.

In terms of quality, it’s almost like Laura Mercier’s TM, but not quite. Laura Mercier’s TM can improve skin’s texture by covering minor skin marks. On the other hand, Myra- E can’t cover any skin marks. Not even the light ones. But in terms of consistency, both are almost the same. Myra- E is pretty emollient, lightweight, and unscented, just like Laura Mercier.

Here’s Myra-E’s TM+Translucent Loose Powder. If you’re darker than I am, you may use a skintone- matching setting powder. I like it for so many reasons: One, it stayed intact for around 6 hours. Surprisingly, the color didn’t come off! Secondly, the texture and feel is so great for our weather. And finally, I didn’t get zits from it.

I highly recommend it to those who find foundation too thick and heavy. It’s still better to put on face base first prior to powder because it keeps your rough and patchy areas moisturized, as powder can make them look more pronounced. Myra- e’s Tinted Moisturizer makes a good face base. It has SPF too to keep your skin protected from the sun, plus a whole bunch of beneficial extracts to nourish your skin during wear. This is something I’ll bring with me during beach trips. It’s my foundation for summer! However, if you’ll be needing more coverage for your skin marks, use concealer underneath prior to applying this product.

  1. Is this non comedogenic? Would you advise this for oily face gals like moi?

  2. queenbee: hello dear! I'm not sure if this is non-comedogenic though. I have oily skin, and it works perfectly fine. So I recommend it to you too. :)

  5. Napabili po ako nito sa Watsons nung akala ko SALE sya, i thought i'll regret buying this thing, at first I find it hard to blend, pero on my second application, i love it na. You're right, it's watery and best to apply with fingers, I tried using stippling brush pero mas okay po ang coverage pag fingers. Some would hate shimmer effect nga po nito, pero for me, I like it a lot, it gives me a perfect glow without the oiliness look. I even blending it with my lotion when I wanted my legs to have a little bit of shine on it. hehe And a little goes a long way. I think i've been using this for almost 1 1/2 months na po, super tipid ng product na to. I am 100 % agree sa review po ninyong ito! :) I'm using Beige nga po pala :)

  12. Atendaj: hello there! thanks for sharing! :) Yes, it works so well on people with oily/combi skin. :)

Kath: maybe your sis has sensitive skin. If you think you are too, do a patch test first. I think it's lighter than most BB creams, as a majority of bb creams nowadays have the same consistency as foundation.

rhaindropz: wee! myra-e girls represent! :D

magz: it's cheap and it works! I highly recommend it. :)

Joyce: hello there! Too bad, I think it doesn't have testers. Just refer to the swatches in this post when you're going to purchase na. :)

  15. alpha: yup! but if you've had a sensitivity to makeup before, do a patch test first. :)

  16. I have this. Unfortunately, if you have it for a few months longer and don't finish it, the pigments solidify like flakes. Workable pa naman blended with the fingers. Kaso scary.

Anyway maybe I just got one from a bad batch.

Anonymous: hello and welcome to my blog! Yes you may. It's best to start young. Start with the 300g first, but bear in mind that you should only take it once daily. Excessive Vitamin E intake can result to death overtime. :) You may move to 400mg when you reach your 20's. :)

  29. Is Myra E vita glow preferred to be used daily? I am a 14 yr. old and I'm researching for the best moisturizer that suits me and might as well search for toner, as well. Please, suggest great buys to me. Thank you! Looking forward for the reply TBJ. :)

  30. nikki a: hello there and I am sooo sorry for the dated reply!

Hmmm..I think for someone who still has young skin, I would advise something else like johnson and johnson's face powder or pigeon's pressed powder. Both are very mild products. For moisturizer, you can try clean and clear because it's formulated specifically for the skin of young adults. Maybe you won' need a toner for now, unless you want to. What I want to tell you is, your skin is still young and at this stage, the saying less is more applies to you. When you hit 16, that's the time you can start using a toner because by this time, your skin is fully developed already and strong enough to take chemicals. :)

  34. Hello guys. Just wanna ask, do you think this tinted moisturizer kinda suit teenagers? I mean Im 16 and very afraid to try products that might break out my face. I have good skin and I want it to stay this way so I started using moisturizers and sunscreen but this one caught my attention. Especially when the product claimed that this is enriched with vitamin E. So I think this is all in one. Moisturizer, sun protector and primer.

    Respond ASAP pls. Thank you!
