THE VERDICT

Are you one of those gals who are fond of the "Airbrush" finish, but find airbrush compressors too complicated to use? Or do you simply aim for a good and affordable foundation that makes your skin look effortlessly flawless? Then you will love Revlon's new Photoready Airbrush makeup.

Revlon says:

PhotoReady Airbrush Mousse Makeup, an air-light makeup provides flawless finish whether it's on camera or in person. The whipped texture helps you to blend evenly for undetectable coverage, leaving you with a smooth poreless complexion. The formula's photochromatic pigments bend and reflect light to minimize flaws, leaving you with perfectly airbrushed skin in any light- indoors, outdoors, or under the flash of a camera. Oil-free, fragrance- free.

The product is housed in a lightweight and air- charged tin can with a foaming pump. The pump is very controllable too.

The shade I have is called Rich Ginger, which is also the darkest shade from the line. It's a rich golden beige shade with a heavy pink undertone. It goes on a little dark on me so I set it with a sheer, white setting powder to counteract the dark shade.

Consistency is whipped and easy-to-blend, and texture is watery. It's a little runny as compared to traditional liquid foundation because it's primarily water- based and made sans oil ingredients. (which is a very good thing)

This foundation is quite tricky: It is foamy at first, but dries down to a whipped liquid. When you squeeze some onto your hand, you would think that you don't have enough to cover your face so the tendency is you'll pump out more. And when it has finally dried down, you'll realize that you have too much product! So the trick is to squeeze a five peso coin- sized dollop onto your hand, and gradually increase the amount in case you need more.

TIP: Shake the can first before using the product.

With just Photoready Mousse Foundation on

It yields a tingling and cooling sensation when it touches your skin. I like it because the sensation helps close my pores. You guys know that I love using my fingers when applying foundation but for this one, it fares better with a foundation brush or sponge. It's hard to attain an even finish when I apply this with my fingers. I use Charm's traditional foundation brush or pointed foundation brush with this one.

It yields light to heavy coverage. It's a good thing because it's like getting three foundations in one can! It helps minimize the appearance of pores, improves my skin's texture, and gives it a dewy finish due to the micro glimmers. The glimmers are almost unnoticeable, so need to worry about looking like Robert Pattinson. (Twilight fans will get this. :D)

However, this foundation takes time to dry. Not the best thing to use when you're in a hurry. I let it dry for at least 3-5 minutes before setting it with powder to prevent creating patches on my skin.

With Photoready Mousse Foundation+Setting Powder

I use my Forever Flawless Sheer Loose Powder to set this one. I'm loving this foundation's undetectable coverage!

Oil control is not so good, and color fades for a bit at day's end. But at least it does not smear and cake. I use my Shu Uemura UV Underbase in Pink/Purple to make it last longer. The brightening effect of the underbase helps neutralize the darkness of the shade as well.

I'm not inlove with it, but it's pretty great. It lives up to its name, and it's one of Revlon's best products to date. Its featherweight texture makes it great for people with pore problems because it won't clog pores, and the air in the liquid helps your pores breathe. It's also great for people who are living in hot and humid countries. I would recommend this to people with dry skin because the watery texture will soothe dry areas. People with oily skin may not fare well with this product. If you're gonna ask me, I won't buy this again because the shades are friendlier to fair- skinned ladies. I do not have any choice apart from the shade Rich Ginger.

I might have omitted a few caveats, but they don't matter anymore. Because when everything is said and done, it still delivers. I've read other reviews about this product, and they're just too unforgiving: They say that its staying power is horrible and it already affected their entire perception about the product. Like all products, it still has its downsides. Besides, it only said it will give your skin a flawless finish--it didn't say it's long-wearing anyway. LOL! Best thing to do is to road test it first before purchasing.

Most perfecting and natural- looking foundations will cost you an arm and a leg so this one's a keeper. If you want flawless yet natural- looking makeup, I recommend this.

  1. This would be a great product for me and will be very helpful in minimizing the visibility of my pores. But my budget and the time it takes to dry is a bit of a problem because I'm a student.

Ms. Martha, do you have any suggestions to minimize the appearance of pores other than liquid foundation? Like your tips, tricks & techniques?? ;))

  4. Aside from the fact that you already have a very nice skin to start with, the foundation also makes you looks more flawless. I also read some reviews about this and most are not in love with it like you. I was really curious about this before but I think I won't buy it na. Thanks for the review.
