Before I proceed with the review, here's a little information about this popular skin treatment called MICRODERMABRASION.

Source: Google

Microdermabrasion has become an increasingly popular alternative to facial scrubbing as it is proven to be much better than the latter: Facial scrubbing only gets rid of very few dead cells, whereas Microdermabrasion gets rid of a significant amount of it in one go and lets you sport clearer and fresher skin for a long time. Between the two, Microdermabrasion is also the gentler choice because it does not require to be done for twice to thrice a week, unlike regular facial scrubbing. Apart from its awesome scrubbing abilities, it also evens out the Stratum Corneum-the outermost area of the skin where wrinkles form-that's why most women would opt for this instead of Cosmetic Surgery.

How Microdermabrasion works: Traditionally, it is done in facial spas and salons where micro crystals are spread across your skin and a powerful vacuum- like tool navigates through your face, sucking the crystals along with the persistent dead skin cells. I have tried this once and I must say, it does make a difference on the overall tone, look, and texture of the skin! However, it is not a very affordable procedure and not all people have the time and patience to lie down in a facial spa and deal with pesky dead skin cells, hence at- home Microdermabrasion products were invented.

THE VERDICT:

I have tried a Microdermabrasion product from Kiehl's and it's called the Epidermal Re-Texturizing Micro- Dermabrasion from the Dermatologist Solutions line. It's pretty great, albeit a little pricey. I have found an affordable one from Snoe, and I'm happy to share this cool find with you guys today.

I have been using it for more than a month already and I am now ready to give my verdict on it.

AWESOME PORESOME MICRODERMABRASION RETEXTURIZING POLISH IN DETAIL

It only comes in one size, and in a tub packaging. There are two alien ingredients in here, namely Azeloglicina and Betaine. Let's have a detailed look at them:

Betaine- Derived from Sugar Beet; Anti- inflammatory, whitening, anti- aging; It helps reduce redness from treatments involving radiation, (e.g. Laser) and acts as a calmer as the polish scrubs your skin.

Azeloglicina- A patented skin care compound exclusive to a company named Sinerga. It is formed from Azelaic Acid (naturally occurring in wheat, rye, and barley) and Glycine. (Can be naturally or chemically derived) Azeloglicina is valued for its range of uses: It helps tame redness caused by Rosacea, regulates sebum production of the skin, effectively minimizes pores, and helps get rid of acne. Currently, it is only available in most clinical and prescribed skin care products and Snoe, if I'm not mistaken, is the first local consumer brand that offers Azeloglicina- infused products through the Awesome Poresome line.

Usage is pretty simple: Use it like how you'd use a facial scrub. Its texture is grittier (ala- sugar scrub) as opposed to regular facial scrubs, but it's gentler if compared to the MicroDermabrasion product of Kiehl's: Snoe's version has beads with rounder edges, while the one by Kiehl's has crystal- like beads with semi- sharp edges. If you have a heavy hand, Snoe would be the option for you.

Its consistency is rich, whipped, and spreadable-a little goes a long way. It has an energizing fruity-floral fragrance.

AWESOME PORESOME MICRODERMABRASION RETEXTURIZING POLISH IN ACTION

WORK IT: Take two pea- sized amounts, rub it in between your palms, add a dollop of water, spread  it on your skin, and scrub gently in a circular motion. Concentrate on the parts where pores are usually prominent such as the nose, sides of the nose, and the area in between your chin and lower lip. Gently dot the product on a pimple and scrub ever so lightly.

Snoe suggested that this product can be used every other day, although I beg to differ--it's very gritty, and regular scrubbing may just do your skin more harm than good. Twice a week should be good enough. Besides, in its strictest sense, MicroDermabrasion should be done on a weekly basis only.

I always have fun whenever I'm using this product not only because its texture is rich and pleasant, but I could also feel that it cleanses my skin deeply: After every use, my skin looks glowing, even- toned, and feels super smooth, but without the taut and dry feeling-I don't normally get these effects from a regular facial scrub, apart from the smoothing effect. I like the way it evens out my skin's surface, paving the way for flawless and better- looking makeup. I've also observed that it flattens cystic pimples in a matter of days, (around 3- 4 to be exact) which in turn helps me get rid of them faster with the help of topical anti- acne treatments. It gets rid of flakes as well, specifically on the parts where I apply Salicylic Acid- laden products the most. However, I find that the beads are quite hard to rinse out, and I always get bead residues on my skin whenever I'm using it so my advice, rinse your skin with a facial cleanser after scrubbing to get rid of the stubborn beads effectively!

Regarding its pore minimizing prowess, I have seen a little improvement most especially on open pores, although the product did not significantly diminish its appearance.

Overall, I would still buy this product again (I already have a back up!) because it works much better than regular facial scrubs in terms of skin renewal, and it's a much affordable alternative to spa or salon- based Micro-Dermabrasion treatments. But I would not suggest it as a medication for cystic pimples and acne, and sensitive- skinned people should do a patch test prior to purchasing. MicroDermabrasion is a great skin treatment, but I believe it is not a cure, and it's not meant for everyone.

  10. Jenny: Welcome. The STRATEGIC ATTACK part is just a tongue-in-cheek description of the product :)

    Ohms: Thank you! :D

Eloise: The granules are like that because it's meant to mimic the actual crystals used in Microdermabrasion treatment. Tinier granules are better because they can really slough off dead skin cells effectively. But you're right, it's tough to rinse out. :)

Maxine: Thank you dear and welcome to TBJ! Let me know how you like it. :)

Iya: Thank you! See you soon! :D

Marsiedmartian: Thank you dear! :D This reminds me that I have to do a review of Snoe's peel off solution soon. :)

Anonymous: Hi and welcome to tbj! Noted! :D

Regina: Hi there and welcome to tbj! I think it is, because the base is quite moisturizing, and the beads are quite gentle. But since you have dry skin, use it very gently so you won't end up scratching your skin, and use it once a week only since it has Azeloglicina, which may strip off the few and precious oils from your skin. Don't forget to moisturize afterwards! Hope this helps. :)

  13. I'm kinda scared on trying scrub on my face because I'm quite prone to having breakouts.. Question, will it irritate the zit if I use this? Thank you for this review, I just read the FaN Mail about acne spots so I decided to check your post about this.. ;)

  14. When something goes wrong with your facial skin as a result of acne breakouts, burns or aging and there are large pores prominent on your skin then you should always go for microdermabrasion with ultrasound.
