THE VERDICT:

How do you choose the color you're going to wear on a daily basis? Do you go for what feels right or what feels trendy? Do you stick to your statement shade or make it a point to try something new everyday and unlock some color combinations you never thought would look good on you?

I go for colors and looks that match whatever I'm feeling on any day. Perfect example would be today: It's 5am and I'm already blogging (but this post will go live at 1 pm. Thank you blogger for the Post scheduling option!) because I have to leave the house by 6am and hit an SSS office to apply for an SSS number. The last time I woke up THIS early was when I was in high school, I believe, so my body's kinda' getting used to it again. My mood today is sleepy, but I would be silly to wear something that will enhance that feeling. (I can't be sleepy-I have a looong day today!) Instead, I'm wearing these sunny, happy colors from Lush's Emotional Brilliance makeup line so whenever I do a beauty checkpoint in the mirror, I'll feel a little energized.

LUSH EMOTIONAL BRILLIANCE EYELINER IN FEELING SECURE AND CREAM EYESHADOW IN INTUITIVE IN DETAIL

It is a known fact that colors can affect your emotions and I guess that's what prompted Lush to create Emotional Brilliance, a range of makeup for the lips and eyes in 30 shades with names inspired by human moods. Even though the colors are very much in- season, the main objective of this collection is  not to set a trend, but to give you the shade that best describes your personality and suits your mood. This line is handmade, absolutely vegan and FRESH: it's not exactly mineral makeup because it still contains two preservatives (props to Lush for being honest!), but rather it contains more natural ingredients than most traditional cosmetics.

Feeling Secure (Inner Confidence) Eyeliner Ingredients: Rose Petal Infusion (Rosa Damascena), Water (Aqua), Glycerine, Stearic Acid, Almond Oil (Prunus Dulcis), Jojoba Oil (Simmondsia Chinensis), Cupuacu Butter (Theobroma Grandiflorum), Titanium Dioxide, Triethanolamine, Cetearyl Alcohol, Mica, Tin Oxide, CI77007, CI45410, CI45380, Methylparaben, Propylparaben

This eyeliner has a creamy texture, medium to full coverage and a semi- matte finish. It's a violet eyeliner with a light wash of gold shimmer. The shimmer doesn't show up at all, but it sure does give the color a brighter glow.

However, I find the applicator wand a lil' long and unstable-it wobbles for a bit and I sometimes make mistakes with it. Instead of using its complimentary applicator, I use a gel liner brush, dip it in the bottle, and proceed with eye lining-it's a lil' messy, but this technique works really well for me.

Next up is Intuitive (With Greater Awareness) Cream Eyeshadow.

Intuitive (With Greater Awareness) Cream Eyeshadow Ingredients: Rose Petal Infusion (Rosa Damascena), Water (Aqua), Glycerine, Stearic Acid, Almond Oil (Prunus Dulcis), Jojoba Oil (Simmondsia Chinensis), Cupuacu Butter (Theobroma Grandiflorum), Titanium Dioxide, Triethanolamine, Cetearyl Alcohol, CI77491, CI77019, CI77499, Methylparaben, Propylparaben

Creamy and amazingly pigmented, this baby settles into a matte, non- cakey finish. Coverage is medium to full. And for a cream eyeshadow with oil extracts, it does not feel oily and heavy at all! Intuitive is a gorgeous, duochrome lime green-golden yellow shimmer eyeshadow.

Comes with a doe foot applicator, which I like very much because it's sanitary and feels more stable than the eyeliner brush.

LUSH EMOTIONAL BRILLIANCE EYELINER IN FEELING SECURE AND CREAM EYESHADOW IN INTUITIVE IN ACTION

Oh yesiree, I'm one happy morning person! (*Sarcastic voice. No, seriously, I really have to be a morning person to get things done in time)

Now ain't that a bubbly combination? :) Regarding staying power, both products stay intact despite the few binders: (or lack thereof) The eyeshadow lasts all day on its own (yes ma'm, even on oily lids and without an eye primer) while the eyeliner fades for just a teeny weeny bit, but does not transfer or smear on upper lids or under eyes. My only problem with the eyeliner is, payoff can be a lil' streaky.

By the way, Lush also suggested that the bottles be recycled once emptied. Since I love going to the beach and visiting at least 50 beaches all over the world is part of my bucket list, I'll save these two and reuse it as a sand container!

I like the whole concept of this line and it's perhaps the main reason why I'll buy it again. Other than that, I also like that both products are gentle on the skin, easy to wash off, and perform really well like some pricier cosmetics that I've long been used to. With the price point, I guess I'll recommend it to those who are willing to spend on milder makeup alternatives. I hope they release other products soon such as face primers, blushes, brow stuff, highlighters...(Can I just say the rest of the makeup products?)

Just For Fun: If you're planning to check out Emotional Brilliance in any Lush branch, don't forget to spin the Emotional Brilliance color wheel. It is said that the first three recognizable colors in the wheel will reveal something about your personality. :)
