FAN MAIL FRIDAYS: Am I Really A Nice Person?

It’s a very sunny day today and definitely it’s a happy day. We all missed Mr. Sun, didn’t we? Our Fan Mail Fridays for today is perhaps the most interesting I’ve ever received so far-It’s from Abigail and here it goes:

Hi Ms. Martha!

I hope you don’t mind me asking this question. Are you really as nice as you seem in your blog? I also read a few nasty comments from your haters and you seem to answer them in a very nice way. I’ve always been a fan and I wonder how it’s like to meet you.
Abigail

Hi Abigail!

So am I really a nice person?

Yes, I am genuinely a nice person. What you see is what you get and I am not trying to be nice to people-be it in person or thru my response to reader comments-just to gain favor from anyone and to be ‘showbiz.’ My mom taught me to be nice to people always if I want them to be nice to me. I’ve also learned that being nice is a formula for success, but even if it weren’t, I don’t see the need and reason to be rude and snooty, although if you meet me for the first time, you’d think that I’m kinda’ snobbish because I’m normally quiet and my facial features are quite sharp-but if you start talking with me, you’ll never feel like a stranger.

I’m a kind and again, a nice person. You help me, I help you more. You lend me a pen, I lend you a book. You tell me nice words, I tell you nicer words. You do me good, I do you even more good. However, in this kindness, I’m sometimes taken advantage of, but I don’t take shit from anyone. You kick my ass, I kick your face. You tell me bad words, I tell you something that’s even worse, but I’m very calm and composed and it will take you a motherload of effort to piss me off. I forgive easily, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t learn my lesson. Over the years and thanks to my spiritual mentor, I’ve learned how to be more peaceful. So why do I respond in a very nice way to bashers and haters? My answer is, I don’t do it for them-I do it for my own peace and for the peace of this blog and its readers.

So there. To conclude, I’m really nice, but I can be a bitch if life calls for it.

  1. I can attest to your kindness :) Our first means of communication were thru product swaps years ago, and you were a newbie blogger. Then I met you in Greenbelt during the launch of Benefit, and you were just as nice (and pretty)!

  4. You are someone inspiring! I can feel your sincerity, and I know that's the way you are. I am lucky to be one of your readers!♥ But sometimes, people will have easier time taking advantage of you when you're too nice.
In my side, I don't really feel good when someone says something "negative" about me especially when I didn't do anything to that person. And I can't really speak to that person until I feel better and that's it, but I won't be rude in any way. I think being rude doesn't make things better.

    Keep inspiring ♥

    Loving it!♥

  5. I remember the first time I met Ms. M, as in yep, Ms. Martha could look snobbish but really I think it's because of the brows and oo medyo mukha siyang tahimik haha. But when she's surrounded by her friends lumalabas ang pagiging kalog. I can tell she's nice. and I think her blog is very transparent about her personality. xx

  9. Yeah, I agree with Arra, I think it's the brows. Haha! I've met Ms. Martha when I won her 4th yr giveaway, and I could honestly say that she's nice and kind. One thing I've noticed that other people might misinterpret in a wrong way is she's straight forward. Hindi lang sya plastic. :)

  11. Hi Abigail! Yes, Miss Martha is a very nice person! I am so lucky to have the opportunity to meet her. She's even nicer in person than on how she writes on her posts. :) Her presence might be intimidating but once she talks you'll know that she's really nice. :)
