THE VERDICT:

FORGET IT. I wish it's that easy to say for someone who has a couple of unsightly marks on her face especially if she's been known to have flawless skin for the longest time. This is my story. However, I'm not giving up on them and thank God for concealers and correctors! :D

ESSENCE FORGET IT! 3 IN 1 CONCEALER IN DETAIL

Fresh from my makeup kit is Essence's Forget It! 3-in-1 Concealer, a mini concealer/corrector wheel that contains three correcting shades: Beige for covering blemishes, Green for concealing redness, and Pink for hiding dark under eye circles.

Packaging doesn't feel very sturdy though, so careful when handling this thing especially when opening as the screw that holds the cover and compact together feels a bit loose, at least on my pan.

Beige- a medium beige shade with peach undertone
Pink- a fleshtone pink shade
Green- a minty green shade

The three concealers have a uniform creamy finish, except the green one which feels a little drier and needs to be warmed up before usage-perhaps due to the pigments used? Anyway, the three are unscented, coverage is light to medium, and finish is semi- matte.

A newborn pimple. :D Who wants to attend the christening? :D

Two layers of the Green Concealer

The green concealer has minimized the reddened skin surrounding the zit, but not the zit itself. Consistency is just too sheer to cover up protruding red spots such as fresh pimples. This is very useful when covering reddish skin only.

WORK IT: To maximize the concealing effect of the green concealer, use a concealing brush.

Bare under eye

Two layers of the Pink concealer

I like how this concealer doesn't look too pink and how it diminishes the appearance of dark under eye circles. However, on fairer gals, the pink tone appears more pronounced. This gets a lil' chalky though if piled on so be sure to even it out. You can use it under any kind of flesh toned concealer should you need more correcting coverage.

WORK IT: This is best applied using fingers. It gets a little clumpy if used with a brush. The warmth of your skin softens up its texture, thus making it more blendable.

Beige Concealer on top of the Pink Concealer

You can use the Beige concealer on the under eyes as well, aside from facial marks. If you use the pink one prior to the beige one, you won't be needing a lot of the latter any longer.

Old and fading post- acne marks

Two layers of the Beige Concealer

This shade is only best used on minor marks like this one. On heavier marks, you'd need a couple of layers to completely conceal them, but I won't suggest that since this product doesn't settle in quickly most especially on oily skin as this is the creamiest concealer among the three.

WORK IT: This product is best applied using fingers.

Staying power of the three is average: Lasts for about 4 hours then starts fading. For me, it fared well in the under eye concealing department: It's pretty moisturizing, doesn't appear crumbly, and does not emphasize fine lines too much. I have my standard for a good facial concealer and that's the consistency should be in between hard and soft. If you only have minor marks, this will suit you-just finish off with a tinted face powder or a liquid base+powder then you're good to go. I've only tried two affordable corrector palettes in my life: this and ELF's Corrective Concealer Palette. Between Essence and ELF, go for this one instead as it has a much, much better pigmentation. Bottomline, this one is good enough. :)

  1. How nice it's really affordable.. I've been looking for a green concealer to neutralize my redness. However, I've read from MakeUpAlley that the one from ELF sucks. The one from Maybelline naman is always not available. Hope I can get my hands on this soon!
