THE VERDICT:

How do you work matte blushes effectively, really? To tell you honestly, I'm sometimes having a problem with them as they're too pigmented, thus they end up looking severe on my cheeks. (I'm always in a hurry and I don't have too much time to blend makeup) Matte blushes are lovely, but they need time to work onto your skin to make them appear more natural-this is why I always go for slightly shimmery blushes.

M.A.C was just awesome when they came out with the Sheertone blushes, which are literally soft matte blushes with a more controlled pigmentation. I discovered another brand that carries soft matte blushes and it's Make Up Factory.

MAKE UP FACTORY BLUSHER IN 42 IN DETAIL

Plainly and simply, it's called Make Up Factory Blusher. It promises subtle color that lasts all day. Since it's a professional brand of makeup and manufacturer just like Kryolan, you can't expect fancy or posh packaging from this brand.

Here's the brush. It feels a lil' scratchy so I don't use it. :p

The pan is pretty huge and the product is firmly pressed right onto the base. The packaging has this very solid feel, and comes with a snap closure.

42 is dusty orange shade that's pretty friendly to both fair and warm skin tones: It warms up fair skin tones and enhances darker skin tones even more. Staring at the pan, I realized that it seems to have flecks of glimmer, but payoff is completely matte, thus I categorize this blush in that finish.

Unlike traditional matte blushes that are thick, heavy, and super pigmented, Make Up Factory's matte blush has a thinner texture and softer pigmentation, but can pack a punch of color once layered on. Texture and payoff really reminds me of M.A.C's Sheertone blushes, and I think this is a more affordable dupe--well, it isn't exactly affordable, but compared to M.A.C, it is. It is unscented, yields no fallout, and feels and looks very light.

MAKE UP FACTORY BLUSHER IN 42 IN ACTION

With two layers of Make Up Factory Blusher in 42

Normally, with a traditional matte blush, two layers would look too thick and heavy already. With Make Up Factory's blush, two layers still look way too natural! I can tap or swipe this product on my cheeks and it won't look messy or un-blended. If I apply around two to three layers, I just swirl my blush brush for a bit on my skin and I'm ready to go! So easy to use!

Staying power is pretty good, and this particular color can also double as a contouring product. However, color selection is a little uninteresting, and I hope Make Up Factory PH brings in more and nicer colors. I'm pretty happy with this blush-actually, I like using it. But if you don't mind sparing around 400 or 500 pesos for better colors, go for M.A.C.

  5. It looks good on you! Very natural lang.

I think the blush is really good, but I don't think I'm willing to spend a thousand bucks just for a blush. :/

  6. I was once a blush addict when I was younger, I love the pop of color on my cheeks. But when i aged a bit my complexion got darker and I find it hard to look for blush colors to complement my morena skin. Kaya I rarely wear blush. Love that blush on you, maybe i should try that same color? hehe

  7. Pau: Thanks! :D

Ravene: Yes, this color is good for morena skin tones. If you have warm skin, opt for warmer shades-that's one of the rules. :)

    Anne_22: Yeah, understandable. :D

    Mary: Thanks! :)

    Fati: Thanks dear! :D

Rhain: Hey thanks for sharing your picks. might check out that blush from Mary Kay you just mentioned. :)
