THE VERDICT:

I believe Revlon's Photoready Kajal Intense Eyeliner + Brightener is one of the brilliant eyeliners I've ever seen simply because it comes with a complementing brightening pencil on one end. It takes out the guessing game from finding which light eye liner will suit what colored eye liner best, and saves you money too! How's the quality? Let's find out. :)

These pencils are meant to intensify and brighten the eyes in one economical and handy pencil. It's patterned after the ancient Kajal, a type of eye liner heavily used by the Egyptians in creating smoldering eyes. Kajal is also treasured for its soft, melting consistency that's great for easy and gentle eye lining.

Eyeliner shades (Top to Bottom): Purple Reign, Blue Nile, Emerald Empire, Carbon Cleopatra

Eye Brightener shades (Top to Bottom): Light Nude (for Purple Reign), White (for Blue Nile), Medium Nude (for Emerald Empire), Pale Nude (for Carbon Cleopatra)

The colored liners and brighteners have medium to heavy pigmentation. It's not entirely Kajal to me because the pencils are a little stiff and need a little rubbing to soften up the texture so that you can somewhat get a Kajal- like texture. The liner is not sebum- proof, however, but surprisingly lasts on my waterline and can resist moisture. I would also advise you to apply no more than two layers for both eye liners because they dry up slowly and has a tendency to smudge the upper lids and under eyes.

Emerald Reign + Medium Nude

The shade that will compliment morena and dark skin tones. I also believe that it has the most universal brightener shade that you can use for spot concealing as well.

Blue Nile + White

A summery duo that looks great on both fair and dark skin tones. On fair skin tones, it appears a little warmer and on darker skin tones, it appears somewhat aqua blue.

Purple Reign + Light Nude

The duo that looks stunning on fairer skin tones. On warmer skin tones, it does work as a good eyeshadow substitute if you want to give your eyes a pop of color sans the effort.

Carbon Cleopatra + Pale Nude

The classic black and white combo. The white shade gives the good ol' black shade an interesting twist.

Here are some ways to maximize these pencils:

1. On upper lash lining, apply the brightener first then top off with the colored liner. This technique will make the colored liner appear more vibrant.
2. For facial highlighting, apply the brightener on brow bones, bridge of the nose, and tearducts.
3. For spot concealing, use the brightener to minimize the appearance of laugh lines, zits, and dark spots

Staying power for these pencils is average-about 3-4 hours-and they definitely need a primer if you want them to last longer. It's good for daily use only as I don't think it will last more intense conditions such as filming, photo shoots, or even a regular workout in the gym. I really, really like the concept of this product, pigmentation is very good, but I wish lasting power were a bit better. It's still a pretty good buy after all if you're just after the brightener because the range will pretty much suit any skin tone and it's currently the cheapest (but nice) pencil brightener I've seen.
