THE VERDICT:

Aaaaand it's a manic Monday for me! Last week, I had very minimal stuff to do and what kept me busy was just my workout and a few events in between. Upon checking my to-do list for this week, I felt overwhelmed all of a sudden and mysteriously drained of energy! Whew! Breathe in, breathe out. :P

Times like this, I just do what I do best and that is I prettify myself to uplift myself. :D Today, I chose to wear The Body Shop's Shimmer Cubes in Gorgeous Bronze to all of my meetings. It's one of those beauty products that has been around since forever, but I never really had the chance to try it until now. It's a very cool and versatile product, not to mention it seems like it will last me forever!

THE BODY SHOP SHIMMER CUBES IN GORGEOUS BRONZE IN DETAIL

The Shimmer Cubes is one of The Body Shop's cult products. It's basically an eyeshadow palette with four individually- packaged wet/dry powder eyeshadows shaped into a cube. Each palette features a color theme and Gorgeous Bronze is from their latest Spring 2014 Color Collection. This product claims to be crease- resistant, dermatologically- tested, and ophthalmologically- tested. Finish for all Shimmer Cubes is iridescent.

Ingredients: Mica (Opacifier), Talc (Absorbent/Bulking Agent), Silica (Absorbent), Aluminum Starch Octenylsuccinate (Absorbent/Anticaking Agent), Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride (Emollient), Zea Mays Starch (Absorbent/Chelating Agent), Dipentaerythrityl Hexahydroxystearate/Hexastearate/Hexarosinate (Skin Conditioning Agent), Isopropyl Isostearate (Emollient), Octyldodecyl Stearoyl Stearate (Skin Conditioning Agent), Nylon-12 (Absorbent/Bulking Agent), Sclerocarya Birrea Seed Oil (Skin Conditioning Agent), Sorbitan Stearate (Emulsifier), Aqua (Solvent/Diluent), Magnesium Aluminum Silicate (Viscosity Modifier), Polyacrylamide (Film Former), Phenoxyethanol (Preservative), Sodium Benzoate (Preservative), Methylparaben (Preservative), C13-14 Isoparaffin (Solvent), Ethylparaben (Preservative), Propylparaben (Preservative), Sodium Dehydroacetate (Preservative), Xanthan Gum (Viscosity Modifier), Laureth-7 (Emulsifier), Butylparaben (Preservative). More about this product after the cut!

I just find the packaging of this product so unique and convenient-it's great for gals like me who wear a single eyeshadow color most of the time. The cubes come in tiny acrylic packaging and you can pull out any color anytime and just stash it in your makeup kit without worrying about transferring it into a smaller container or squeezing it in a palette. The cover of the tiny packaging doesn't come off easily too so no need to worry about crushed pigments in your bag!

Here are the swatches.

Top to Bottom:

1. Pale yellow shade
2. Bright copper shade
3. Bronze-deep brown shade
4. Gold shade

The shadows are a bit chalky and you need a really compact, fluffy brush to minimize fallout. Thanks to its loose, shimmer formula, it doesn't really stain your skin in case the pigments fall as you blend them. If used dry, the shadows yield light to medium coverage.

If used wet, you get heavy coverage in a snap. Wetting the shadows will also take out the chalkiness.

Used the shadows in their dry state here. In my experience, shimmer shadows are VERY hard to blend, but not this one! Despite the fallouts here and there, texture is pretty smooth and I get a considerable color payoff on my lids, and you don't have to exert too much effort to make 'em stick. Gorgeous Bronze is an easy color for all warm- skinned ladies out there, and I like that even individually, the colors are wearable. It's not really crease- resistant on its own as I have really oily lids, but if used with a primer, the shadows last all day. Oh, you can also use the lighter shades as a facial highlighter!

Other bloggers even claimed that this product can last for more than 3 years or so. I bet you wouldn't want to keep this product beyond three years, but it's a good option if you have the tendency to be loyal to one product. All in all, it's a high quality eyeshadow palette with a bunch of very usable colors not only for this combination, but for the other ones as well.

  2. I love how you blended the eyeshadow. It's seamless and perfect. I have the same palette but I can never do the eyes as good as you can! Haha :) I love the pale shade, I use it as highlighter!

  3. Whenever I'm on a go, I usually wear a single eyeshadow on the lids and liner. I am currently using the single eyeshadow of The face shop. I is indeed quite handy. The only thing is that the glitter is a bit chunky unlike this. As I see it, it is gorgeously blended. I would love to try this one.

  6. Not a huge fan of loose pigment, Body Shop offerings are a staple. They really have their place in the makeup world. Packaging also looks cute. :)
