Final Impression: Shiseido Ibuki

In one Blogger event I had attended, my Beauty Blogger friends and I were talking about our favorite skin care products and a lot swore by Shiseido's Ibuki range, which immediately reminded me that I haven't posted my final thoughts about this skin care range yet, so 'ere goes!

I've used the entire line for nearly five months (except the Facial Cleanser which lasted for about 1 1/2 months only. Still, that's pretty economical for a facial wash considering I use it twice a day!) and I still have a lot of the Refining Moisturizer Enriched left, which goes to show you that this is one economical line. As with all of Shiseido's products, you would only need a small amount (always!) to cover your entire face!

For my FIRST IMPRESSION on Shiseido Ibuki blog post, click HERE. I would suggest you read it first for a quick back story! :)

Three weeks of using Shiseido Ibuki

My skin four to five months of using Shiseido Ibuki products

So my skin looks and feels smoother and healthier now than before. The texture on the side of my nose showed tremendous improvement in the first few weeks of usage, but stopped responding by the second month.

Some of my Beauty Blogger friends love Ibuki so much for they claim that it really renews and heals skin by controlling breakouts. However, I couldn't say the same thing for myself because during my usage, I would still experience my normal breakouts so I still had to use Salicylic Acid, albeit this line did not aggravate it in any way and the zits would still heal faster than before.

This is what I loved about this line: My overall skin tone and texture continued to look healthier day after day (despite the recurring zits) and I finally got to see what 'transparent skin' really looks like: It's naturally glowing, looks more even, it just bounces back easily, and is quite resilient-my facial skin gets scratches easily, but when I started using Ibuki, that problem occurred less and less.

To me, it worked as a deep nourishing skin care line. If breakouts aren't my problem and I just need something to keep my skin super healthy, I would probably make this as one of my HG skin care lines. The Softening Concentrate, I'm willing to repurchase as I felt that that really helped my skin! If you're using the Ibuki line, share your experience with me! If you're about to purchase, I hope it works for you! :)

  1. So glad you posted this! Been eyeing this line but most reviews are of the "immediately after trying" kind. We know it takes time to see the benefits of skincare. So far, your review along with Frances's (Topaz) are the most helpful. :)

  3. I also use the protective moisturizer and the softening conentrate and i love them both. it continously gives my face a natural glow. Although this skin care line is pricey, its still worth it because I get the result that I want

  6. I think Im not going to purchase the whole line but Im torn between the 2 moisturizer. I am suffering from acne and I dont think this line could help me with my skin problem. But since moisturizers are a must have I am thinking of getting one because I think its true to its job.

  8. I've been using this for about two months now. Prior to this, I was using the Clinique 3-step system since forever. Just wanted to try out something new, though I have no complaints with Clinique.

Although pricey, I can say that in the end it won't end up pricey because you use so little of the product everyday. The cleanser in particular, you just need just a pea sized amount to get a good lather. I think I've consumed only about 1/3 of mine in 2 months. Maybe you used a lot initially?

Anyway, I love the softening concentrate and the refining moisturizer. In fact I've already restocked those two together with the cleanser when Shiseido had their 20% off sale last weekend.

The thing I love about both the concentrate and the moisturizer is that they get absorbed so easily by my skin. Also, I haven't had any breakouts since I started using this, although I don't really apply too much makeup apart from bb creams. And I think the effect is noticeable, since a few people have noted how much better my skin is looking these days.

All in all, pretty pleased with the Ibuki line and will continue using it until I get bored with it. Because really, that was the only reason why I tried it, after using Clinique for years.

  9. I only knew about Shiseido's cosmetics and I have no idea what they usually are besides the fact that I learn all about them here at TBJ. This kind of review is an excellent one because it really shows the difference and the effect of the product.

  10. Joyce: Thanks! :D

Majorie: Hope you can try it soon!

Melvel: Hi there and thanks for sharing! I've been meaning to try clinique's entire range for combi-oily skin because I was pretty impressed with the toner! My favorite is the protective emulsion for daytime-it's so light yet moisturizes my skin the whole day!

Cincincin: I would suggest the softening concentrate along with the moisturizer because it really does what it says!

    Rizza: that is so true!

    Aegeanne: Welcome! :)

Leilani: Glad it's working out marvelously for you. :)
