FAN MAIL FRIDAYS: Affordable Powder Foundation/Pressed Powder with good coverage

Counting the hours to my Kuala Lumpur trip! :) I'll be sure to share tidbits of my trip via Instagram and of course, here on my blog! :) Hope I'll have ample time to go around (even just a quick trip to Petronas, pleaaassee!) as I'll be there to shoot a TVC, thus it will be a packed trip!

Anyhoo, I'm ending the week with a question from Juzzy:

Hi Martha,
I really love the Sheer Mattifying Compact of Shiseido kasi I always get compliments when I use it akala nila naturally flawless lang ako, but it is so expensive. Can you suggest a cheaper powder foundation with the same quality or finish as the Shiseido one. Thanks!
Juzzy

Hi Juzzy!

Oh, I know what you mean, but personally I will still buy it because Shiseido is still the undisputed powder foundation out there.

Of course there are good and super affordable powder foundation products that can give you good coverage-I couldn't say that they're close contenders of Shiseido, but they're good enough in my opinion. Click READ MORE for the list.

Hands down, this is perhaps the most affordable powder foundation with the best coverage to date. It's super concentrated that it can literally conceal light spots and minimize grave ones all together. It could be a lil' messy to use though, but at least it's mineral, thus it's gentle on the skin!

Surprisingly, for a P300.00+ product, coverage is very, very decent. It's a lil' sheerer than Shiseido, but more pigmented than other drugstore powder foundations. It's definitely the drugstore powder foundation that I'd recommend any day to anyone who's on a budget.

One of my first, well- loved powder foundations! It's about P500.00+ only and coverage is medium to heavy. It's formulated for wet and dry use so you won't get water patches on it in case you plan to use it with water!

The succeeding products aren't necessarily powder foundation, but pressed powders-I do find that they're pigmented enough to be considered as one though!

Soft, creamy, and smooth, this powder evens out my skin tone and adds a hint of glow to it too!

One touch and I immediately felt that this product can double as a powder foundation if layered on for at least two to three times, and I was right! This powder has very good coverage, but manages to look fresh and feel light, ad it's fragrance- free as well.

My favorite product from The Face Shop! Coverage is very good (a lil' sheerer than powder foundation, but I find that it evens out my skin tone just fine), texture is smooth 'n creamy, and oil control is superb! :)

There you go! Have a fantastic Friday, girls! :)

  1. Can attest to the power of the Ellana powder foundation. It's really great, and on most days I skip the undereye concealing as this takes care of that as well!

  2. Looking forward to reading your blog posts about your adventure while you're in Malaysia, Ms. Martha!

Thank you for choosing Juzzy's question to be featured for today's Fan Mail Fridays because I also need suggestions on my next powder foundation purchase to replace my old one. A powder foundation is always a good alternative whenever I don't feel like wearing a liquid one :) The Ellana powder foundation and the L.A. pressed powder you've suggested caught my eye. Would want to check these out for myself and see how well they perform as powder foundations.:)

  7. I know Im super weird but when I saw this article of yours, I immediately take notes. Ehehe. Honestly, its so nice to have many options than to settle down to a (wala ng mapagpilian) type of product. Or going back to a just okay product because its the one you always buy. Im really not an explorer when it comes to make up because I was annoyed by some SA na laging nakasunod and ipagpipilitan yung mga product na you dont even want or insist in putting the product on your face. Kaya ayun, im so happy whenever I read blogs like this. Very informative and I dont have to take a stroll in the beauty section because I already know whats good abd whats not.

  8. I'm excited to try ZA. Testing their liquid foundation on my skin really surprised me, since I didn't expect it to be so high quality. I'm sure it will be the same consistent quality for the powder foundation. Plus, the packaging I find so pretty. :D

With Ellana naman, I might go for the primer first and the blush. The primer got such glowing reviews, while the blush selection is has wonderful colors.
