TBJ TRAVELS: Kuala Lumpur Malaysia Diaries 2: Shopping at KL (Central Market, Suria KLCC, Pavilion, Farenheit)

I hope you brought some digital cash with you because we're going shopping in KL tadaaay! :D

Ah, KL is a shopper's paradise because one will find a lot of global brands here, plus everything's tax- free! It's like a BIG Duty Free! :D

I visited the three major shopping spots in KL: Suria KLCC, Central Market, and Bukit Bintang. Let me take you around!

Suria KLCC is a luxury mall located right behind the Petronas Twin Towers.

It's a huge mall with a connecting tunnel to the KLCC LRT station. There's another mall beside it called Ampang Mall and it's where you will find H&M. Brands that you can find in Suria KLCC are the following: Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Chanel, Prada, Miu Miu, Harrod's, Godiva, Coach, Uniqlo, Burt's Bees, Vincci, Marks and Spencer, Shu Uemura, MAC, The Body Shop, Anna Sui, and Isetan and Parkson's department stores.

One of my Beauty Blogger dreams is to visit a Sephora store and that came true when I was in KL-there's a Sephora boutique at the lower ground floor of Suria KLCC!

A long counter that showcases Sephora's exclusive makeup products.

Here's another photo that shows you how massive the counter is!

Soap and Glory! Other makeup brands that you can find in Sephora are: Urban Decay, Marc Jacobs, Fresh, and almost all Sephora merchants, except Illamasqua.

After visiting Suria KLCC, I rode the train and headed to the famous Central Market. More shopping after the jump!

Central Market is located in the Pasar Seni district. Built in 1888, it is one of the oldest buildings in Kuala Lumpur and has once served as a wet market. It was almost demolished, but was saved by a group of local conservationist and right now, it's a haven for local finds and merchants.

TIP: From KLCC, hop on the Kelana Jaya LRT and go to Pasar Seni station-fare is 1.60RM or around P15.00. Central Market is very near the train station and you'll see it once you alight at Pasar Seni. When you see a light blue- colored building, that's it!

Central Market is an air-conditioned building-there are dozens of tourists here so it's safe even if you're traveling alone, but for female travelers, I would recommend going here during daytime, especially if you don't have a companion.

The stalls are categorized into "villages" and here's one of them: Straits Chinese where you can find China- inspired souvenirs.

Here are some interesting things that you can find in Central Market:

Paintings

Souvenir tees that start at 20 RM or P250.00+.

Local snacks.

Decorative masks.

Shell trays, plates, bowls, and jars.

Don't miss out on the Pewter displays, which is what Malaysia is known for.

There are stalls right outside Central Market too, plus you can find a bevy of street food stalls here.

TIP: Before taking photos of any product, ask for permission first from the stall caretakers because some of them don't allow it!

Come night time, I headed back to the hotel, rested for a bit, and went off to Bukit Bintang.

Bukit Bintang is part of the Golden Triangle, Kuala Lumpur's center for entertainment, dining, and shopping. You will find here Pavilion Mall, the newest shopping mecca in the city.

Pavilion is a luxury mall and you can find the following brands here: Annick Goutal, Celine, Prada, Coach, Kate Spade, Jo Malone, Ralph Lauren, Miu Miu, Parkson's Department Store, Marc Jacobs, Givenchy, and YSL.

That building with a pointed, jagged shape is called Starhill Gallery and there's Sephora and Louis Vuitton here. If you want to score Malaysian fashion and accessory brands, go to Farenheit!

Never forget to drop by and shop at Vincci, this famous, affordable, and sturdy Malaysian brand of footwear, bags, and accessories-I've had a pair before and it lasted me a good three years! There's one in Suria KLCC and in Fahrenheit!

TIP: Shoes are pretty affordable in Malaysia! Be sure to grab a few pairs! ;)

Bukit Bintang is also known for its night life and street pubs!

Here's one pub that I spotted near Fahrenheit Mall.

Here are a few goodies that I got:

Sephora Eye and Lip Makeup Remover, Corrector, and Reusable Makeup Wipe.

Vincci sandals for me and mom. Vincci's price starts at 49RM or P500.00+.

Hope you enjoyed our shopping trip today! For our final day, we'll go to the historical Merdeka Square and go food tripping at Jalan Alor! :)

  1. Hope you can do a review of the Sephora corrector. I got the powder foundation from there, but had a really bad reaction to it. Every single time I would try it, I would break out. Di ko tuloy naubos. :(
