Nail Art Tutorial: Simple Minion Nails!

Finally, I found time to whip up a nail art! It was a cool Thursday afternoon and I literally had nothing to do so I popped Despicable Me in the DVD player and afterwards, I got inspired to paint the Minions on my nails!

This is just a simple minion nail art that's done in just 30 minutes, perfect if you want to dress up your nails without spending too much time and effort.

Let us begin!

You would be needing the following nail polish colors: Yellow, White, Black, Taupe/Gray

Of course you would be needing some tools too. For this nail art, I used the following: Flat brush to create the goggles band of the Minions, a slim brush to create their lips, and two varying sizes of the dotting tool to create the eyes.

TIP: No dotting tools? You can substitute them with just a toothpick or stick! Use the pointy tip in lieu of the small dotting tool, and the rounded, bottom part in lieu of the big dotting tool.

STEP 1: Create a french manicure using the yellow and blue polish. Gradually intensify the coverage as desired. Personally, I allow both polishes to dry up for at least 50% before proceeding with the rest of the nail art so as to prevent the rest of the colors from running.

STEP 2: Using the big dotting tool, dip it in white polish and apply two dots on each nail and on the blue polish-they're the buttons of their jumpers, btw. :)

STEP 3: Using the flat brush, dip it in black polish and create a horizontal line on the yellow polish, just a bit below the cuticle line. Try your best to create a straight line-I tried my best, but I'm not really good at drawing straight lines lol! :D

STEP 4: Now grab the taupe/gray polish and using the brush that comes with it, apply dots on the middle of the black line. Don't apply too much or else, it will take a lot of time to dry up or drip on its sides.

STEP 5: Grab the big dotting tool, dip it again in white polish and apply a dot on the middle of the taupe/gray polish.

STEP 6: Finally, grab the small dotting tool, dip it in black polish and apply a dot on the center of the white dot.

And we're done! That wasn't so hard, isn't it? Allow all the colors to dry up completely before sealing with a top coat.

And at the last minute, I thought these Minions are better off with a smile! :)

Hope you liked this! Let me know if you've decided to recreate this nail art-share it with me on my Facebook fan page. :D
