THE VERDICT:

A couple of weeks ago, there was this quote by Meryl Streep that circulated on Facebook and in a nutshell, she said that she has no more time for life drama and dramatic people--the thesis statement is: Stick to those who love you, let go of those who don't, and I totally agree with her. It may be too early for me to say this, but I shall say it anyhow: I've come to a point wherein I don't give a chance any longer to things and people who are detrimental to my happiness, and who only make life more dramatic-it sounds like a decision of someone who's half a century old, but I don't want to live until that time and realize I should've done so earlier.

Life is already one, huge drama and everywhere (on T.V., the radio, on broadsheets, and even in social media), there's drama so I choose to let this world breathe by existing happily all the time. I realized that this is the most uncomplicated way to live in this already complicated life.

I still like drama though as it reflects passion, but only in my skin care routine (or any film with Sean Penn in it)-it's the happy kind of drama and I could have it everyday! Clinique shares this sentiment of mine with Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion Plus, the cult moisturizer which, according to Clinique, is made even more dramatic (Read: better).

CLINIQUE DRAMATICALLY DIFFERENT MOISTURIZING LOTION PLUS IN DETAIL

DDML+ (let's shorten this, shall we?) is a reformulation of the classic DDML-it's still made with Clinique's proprietary concoction of moisture- infusing and locking ingredients, but double the concentration. It also promises to improve the skin's moisture levels in 8 weeks.

Here's the big three of this moisturizer:

Hyaluronic Acid- hydrates skin and improves its moisture- retaining capacity
Urea- a natural component of the skin's moisturizing factor or the skin's inherent moisturizing properties
Glycerine- a moisture- attracting ingredient that absorbs water particles from the air into the skin

I'm no stranger to this product as my mom used this eons ago and I believe I was only 6 or 7 years old when I first encountered it. As a curious youngster, I remember stealing mom's DDML and applying it on my body, thinking it was lotion-don't ask me about my initial reaction that time because I saw it as a toy, not a beauty product! Okay fine, I found it 'nice'. :)

My thoughts about this moisturizer after the cut. Promise, my review won't be dramatic. :D

I got the 125ml bottle last year and up to this day, I'm still finding a way to squeeze it into my toiletries tray because it's so chunkeh, babeh. I should have gotten the smaller bottle instead because anyway, a little goes a long way with this product, but since I got it for free, I should not complain. I should not make a drama out of it. :p

CLINIQUE DRAMATICALLY DIFFERENT MOISTURIZING LOTION PLUS IN ACTION

So! This yellow product has a semi-creamy consistency-it's a lil' thick for my liking even if 'tis oil- free, but to the future DDML+ buyers, know that Clinique always has product versions for all skin types including this. If I will buy it again, I shall go for the version for oily and combination skin-I read that that has a gel consistency. This product, by the way, is unscented and allergy-tested.

I'll put it this way: this is my first time to try the product. I've used it straight for an entire month and what I like about it is truly makes my skin look and feel well- moisturized, and even if it's a lil' thick for me, it did not aggravate my combination oily-normal (and sometimes abnormally oily) skin. In the AM, I only use a very sheer amount and in the PM, I indulge-I love using this product at night because my air conditioner's drying temperature is no match for this and I wake up every single day with really moist skin, and nope, there were no breakouts.

I now see why DDML became such a popular product: aside from being one of the first 'authentically moisturizing' moisturizers, it's got a no-nonsense formula that gives dramatic moisture but without all those dramatic ingredients, although I don't see myself trading my moisturizers for it anytime soon because what I'm using right now is equally good as well (after all, the world has evolved and so did beauty products), plus it has no SPF. It's for those who are into simple (but effective) products and of course, the fans of DDML.

  1. I've tried a sample tube of this (I bought the sample kit for the 3step skincare from clinique) and the moisturizer is pretty spot on. It felt a little heavy on hot days but it does get absorbed by the skin eventually.

  2. I tried Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion before and I love it!!! It's not sticky and very moisturizing. You can't go wrong with Clinique, they're one of those tried and tested brands!!! I wish that they will formulate a budget friendly line without sacrificing the quality!! Perhaps, others can avail of their products.

  4. I've never tried any Clinique lotions/moisturizers. I've only tried their lipsticks and makeups and I like it. I have quite an oily skin so if ever I'll buy this, I 'll use it at night lang. Sometimes kasi, my oiliness is aggravated by moisturizers. So when I need to go out during the day, I don't use a moisturizer. :)
