THE VERDICT:

BOOKED- a word that excites me so much lately. :D

I've got that traveler spirit now and I'm always looking forward to my next getaway. This May 2015, I'm going to Thailand with the BF and we are BOOKED! :D

I already started sorting out the clothes, accessories, and toiletries that I will bring with me to Thailand as early as now (I couldn't help it! I'm excited!). For the toiletries, I found the perfect wanderlust shampoo in Lush Shampoo Bar. Thank goodness I discovered this travel- friendly product because I still find most travel- sized shampoo bottles a bit bulky and big, and shampoos in sachet are definitely not environmental- friendly.

LUSH SHAMPOO BAR IN HONEY I WASHED MY HAIR IN DETAIL

This is Lush's version of the solid shampoo. It's all- natural, preservative- free, and without a doubt, Mother Earth- friendly. It comes in over a dozen variants and Lush had recently added 5 new variants to the range.

The Shampoo Bar I have is called Honey I Washed My Hair, the Shampoo Bar version of Lush's cult favorite Honey I Washed The Kids soap, which happens to be one of my most favorite Lush soaps as well. It actually looks like soap and I have to remind the household every time that it's shampoo. Well, it can double as a soap too, but I prefer using it on my hair only. :)

Detailed review of this perfect traveling companion after the cut!

LUSH SHAMPOO BAR IN HONEY I WASHED MY HAIR IN ACTION

For an all- natural shampoo, it is surprisingly too sudsy-I believe that this characteristic is uncommon for an all- natural product so I researched its ingredients:

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Fair Trade Honey Fragrance, Water (Aqua), Sweet Wild Orange Oil (Citrus Sinensis), Bergamot Oil (Citrus Aurantium Bergamia) Limonene, Linalool, Amyl Cinnamal, Citronellol, Lilial.

So turns out that this product is high on SLS. Don't fret because SLS is a safe synthetic, but it is quite drying to the hair. My hair would get squeaky clean, but pretty dry whenever I use this product so I have to use a conditioner with it every time. On a positive note, this bar smells freakishly good and it keeps my hair fragrant even up until the next day or even after a work out! Honey I Washed My Hair has this comforting, Honey-Toffee scent. In general, the fragrances of these bars don't smell cheap, bad, and they are not headache- inducing!

This product has a complementing tin can storage, albeit it is sold separately. The tin can is pretty handy and the shampoo bar fits perfectly in it, but my issue with it is it doesn't offer any space for you to insert a finger and lift up the product. Why is this an issue to me? Because the shampoo bar, when it dries up, sticks onto the base of the tin can and the only way for you to take it out is to either cut the bar in two or create dents on its sides and destroy its nice, round shape-too tedious!

An open soap dish would be good enough for you to store the shampoo bar in the shower. I would only advise you to purchase the tin can if you intend to bring the shampoo bar with you while traveling.

Despite its drying effect, I still find myself purchasing this product in the near future because 1.) It's travel- friendly. I could not overemphasize. 2.) It's leak- free. 3.) It smells so good. I'd only buy it for my trips though and not as my everyday shampoo because it's pretty drying to the hair.

For travelers, here's a shampoo that will adjust to our on-the-go lifestyle. And for those with an oily scalp, this product will mask the nasty scent of sebum for you and keep your head and hair smelling fabulous the whole day. :)

  1. It's quite innovative and certainly less of a pain in the ass to haul while traveling. I just hope they could improve on the formula to become hydrating. Who knows? Perhaps they'll come up with a deep conditioner-enriched one. :)

  3. I find that drying the bar a bit after use then wrapping it in some wax paper solves the problem of the bar sticking to the tin. Hope this helps! :)

  6. I actually expected the shampoo bar to be drying. I don't know if you've tried it before, pero kami nung bata pa, gumagamit kami ng soap as shampoo. :) But I definitely like shampoo bar from Lush. I have the pink one and it definitely smells so good!! As in. Yun nga lang, nakakdry. Parang for my hair, I use more conditioner than normal to combat the dryness.

I'm excited for you para sa trip niyo sa Thailand! Will wait for your post about it

Yeah so I won't really use the bar as an everyday shampoo product. Like what I said, I'll only buy it when I have to travel.

Hazel: Yup! Let's pray for that. :)

    Rhain: Nope dear. :)

Phoebe: Brilliant tip! Why didn't I think of that haha. Thanks. I shall try that. :)

  9. I've been using solid shampoos on and off for about eight years. I love that they're easy to travel with, but if they don't dry out in between uses, I do find they fall apart. Has anyone else had this problem or know how to fix it? I hate using bottles and bottles of shamp/con so definitely want to go back to using solid bars!
