THE VERDICT:

I thought that POP Beauty's eyeshadow palettes are not that good 'cuz of my experience with the mini BUYL eyeshadow palette in the Pop Your Natural Beauty makeup set until I tried the Bright Up Your Life Eyeshadow Palette. This affordable eyeshadow set by POP Beauty can be used in pro or everyday settings, and they're as buttery and pigmented as Urban Decay's eyeshadows!

POP BEAUTY BRIGHT UP YOUR LIFE EYESHADOW PALETTE IN SMOKIN' HOT IN DETAIL

This palette features bare pigments that are smooth, silky, and intense. This palette comes in two color combinations: Smokin' Hot and Naturally Bare (neutrals).

Ingredients

Swatches and looks after the cut. ;)

I like the graphic design and sturdy feel of the palette, but just like the mini BUYL eyeshadow palette, the lid on this one is pretty tough to open and has the tendency to get stuck too. Uhm, can somebody fix this issue?

Oh look, we have a dual head brush in here. The shader brush is stiff yet soft and it works well with the creamy texture of the eyeshadows, but unfortunately, I found the fluffy brush too sparse-it only ends up dusting away the eyeshadows. :p The eyeshadows have a slight perfume-y scent and don't you worry because it goes away and it won't bother your nose for the rest of the day.

Top, L-R: Silver, Deep Copper, Rusty Gold, Sea Green, Gray
Bottom, L-R: Dark Blue, Violet, Brown/Bronze, Olive Green, Dark Gray

Please note that the descriptions of the eyeshadows are mine-they don't have their own names.

Now these are really buttery eyeshadows-they apply so smoothly and blending them on the lids is such a breeze. However, they are chalky and yield fallout because according to POP Beauty, these are bare pigments, but only in pressed form (oh now I understand).

Pigmentation is medium to heavy and unlike the version in POP Beauty makeup kit, these shadows adhere to the skin better. The texture of the eyeshadows makes it suitable for dry skin. Regarding staying power, it won't stay put on its own, thus an eye primer is needed.

Rusty Gold + Deep Copper

Sea Green + Olive Green + Brown Bronze

The only con of this product is it offers one shade of highlighter only, which is Silver and I find that it does not really compliment all the hues in this palette. It would've been nice if there was Champagne or Light Gold!

But despite that, I think this is a pretty versatile and good palette that's priced just right: it offers a nice medley of bold yet wearable colors, can take you from day to night, and the overall quality and payoff is good. It's a little bit like Urban Decay's famed eyeshadows in terms of pigmentation and texture, but of course, the former has better quality overall, albeit it is more expensive. If you're on a budget, this is a good option.

It's a great choice for budding makeup artists because it is affordable and can pass off as a pro product, and for the everyday woman because it encourages us to experiment with bolder colors whilst still remaining realistic.

  1. wow.. i cannot believe on how pigmented this palette was! reminds me of my Sleek palette in Storm =) but im not into price ms m =( 1240php/for 10 shades is bit heavy on pocket (i can compare to the sleek palette which costs less than 700php/for 12 shades)

i love your looks created from this palette! (rusty gold + deep copper) gold e/s never gets out of style and fashion

i am looking forward on swatches for their lip palette ms m! 24 amazing shades for 1300php!

  2. I actually have this palette but unlike you, I'm not really happy with it. My BH cosmetics is actually better and cheaper. Like you said, it has major fallouts talaga, and for a 1k+ palette, that's a major no for me. :/ But I love the colors though. I don't like the packaging too. Looks cheap

  3. why is it all make-up looks good in you Ms. M. I'm envious.

I'm not into eye make-up but I can see that this pop beauty is highly pigmented. It looks good.

  4. Love that POP's eyeshadow palette is transparent. It's easier to choose which color will be used and I love the design/ print in the cover, it reminds me of tropical summer :)

  5. A palette that contains silver is something of a turn-off for me. Same point. Why couldn't it be a more natural-looking champagne or rose gold? Metallics are my go-to, and the colors on this palette offer a nice range to switch up or play with.
