THE VERDICT:

Blur Creams/Foundations are proof of Instagram's influence on today's generation. Nowadays, it's not enough to wear plain foundation-it should be foundation that blurs like Reyes or Amaro and beautifies like VSCOCAM or Afterlight haha! I think there's nothing wrong with these standards just as long you know why you want what you want and you have a healthy sense of fantasy and reality.

So yeah, going back to Blur Creams/Foundations. What are the ones you have encountered in the market lately? I'm still new to these products so I haven't encountered a lot: First one was The Body Shop Instablur Primer and the second one is this: Happy Skin Instabeauty Blur Cream. Oooh! Let's check it out. :)

HAPPY SKIN INSTABEAUTY BLUR CREAM IN DETAIL

Instabeauty is the latest face base to join Happy Skin's growing roster of makeup products. This multitasking, lightly- tinted primer-cum-foundation claims to smooth fine lines, blur enlarged pores, even out and brighten the skin tone, and has anti-aging properties. Happy Skin also said that this product can be used under makeup. Currently, this product comes in one shade only.

Ingredients

Product comes in a soft, squeeze tube.

Check out my swatches of this product after the break.

Instabeauty comes in a fair beige shade with a strong yellow undertone. It has a mousse- like consistency, but it feels fairly light on the skin and it does not give you the feeling that there's a layer of makeup on top of your skin despite its consistency. It's very smooth, although payoff is a lil' streaky because it's just lightly- tinted, meaning the concentration of pigments is low, thus it cannot give a thicker color coverage. That said, I believe it's more of a tinted moisturizer than a foundation. Pigmentation is sheer to light and finish is semi- matte.

HAPPY SKIN INSTABEAUTY BLUR CREAM IN ACTION

Two layers of Instabeauty

Instabeauty is pretty light for my skin tone and cannot conceal dark marks, sadly.

Here's a close- up shot of Instabeauty. It covered up my enlarged pores, specifically on the nose area. Again, coverage is pretty streaky.

Unless you will let people stare really close at your skin, Instabeauty looks pretty okay at a normal distance. Whether you use it as a foundation or primer, it will give you a much smoother skin texture. However, it does not have significant oil- controlling properties as my T-Zone would get oily with it in as little as 2 hours. I like that this product has pretty great smoothing effects, but I wish it had better oil control, coverage, and shade selection. I think gals with normal skin types who only need a smoothing primer/tinted moisturizer will like this product. It's not for me, unfortunately.

  1. Aww sad :( your scores for this is kinda low :( maybe this one can be a primer only then apply foundation over it to achieve a flawless canvass ;)

  3. Sayang naman, I thought it would be some sort of concealer foundation. And 1 shade nga lang so di pwede sa lahat. :/ And it's a bit pricey so I don't think I would buy it too. I hope they'll improve the formula soon.

  4. For its price there is always a high expectations. Sabagay some products talaga works well depende sa gumagamit. I love happy skin forbidden fruit set, its my fave.but this one I don't really want to try it. Maybe Im satisfied for the products Im using now.

  5. I think most primers/blur creams that contain silicone isn't really for oil-skinned girls. I noticed that whenever I use one, I tend to get oilier than usual. It's like my skin is rebelling against those silicone that cover my pores.. That's why I was already hesitant in getting this instablur because I know as great as this sounds, it's not for me. Your post just validated my thoughts. Thank you. :)

  6. Yeyy!!! I made the right choice. Haha. I was about to buy it last month but I hesitated. I have this feeling that this would not be perfect to my skin tone. (I do have slightly the same skin tone as yours Ms. M). Thank you so much for the review.

  7. Janine: Yup, that's the best use for that. :)

    Kkumkugo: You're welcome. :)

Anne_22: Silicone actually helps stall oil, but there are some who are allergic/incompatible with it. You're with the latter group, I believe.

    Abegaill:Agree. :)

Lisa: Thank you and welcome to the blog! :D

Jeremy: Hey, if you're okay with what you're using, then no need to shift. :D

  11. Love happy skin even though I haven't tried a single product from their brand. Aside of its quality, I super love their packaging. Super girly & cute! Wanna try this one. I am sooo convinced by its name ;) No need for an instagram filter with this, I guess? ;)
