Benefit Brow Bar Brow Waxing Review/Experience (Greenbelt 5)

To tell you frankly, I was unimpressed with Benefit's Brow Waxing service the first time I tried it so it never occurred to me to go back (one of their brow artists over waxed my brows). They were on a soft opening then when I tried the service so maybe that was a big factor, but that did not erase the fact that I was unimpressed.

I was told recently that Benefit had already improved their on- counter beauty services by a huge lot so I thought "Hey, why not try them again? Everyone deserves a second chance!"

And so after a year, I decided to try again Benefit's Brow Waxing Services, specifically at their Greenbelt 5 branch. Chronicling my experience below!

Hello, we meet again.

Welcome to Benefit's Brow Waxing table. Brow Waxing can be divided into three parts: Cleansing, Waxing, Grooming. Benefit uses a special pearlized wax with moisturizers that's specifically made for facial waxing.

Safety first! Before proceeding with the treatment, Benefit will ask you a few questions regarding your skin and health conditions (if any), and your current skin care regimen as well via this questionnaire. Please be honest when answering the questionnaire because it is for your own safety!

TIP: If you've just had a peel or are currently using Retinoid and other whitening/peeling creams, inform the aesthetician right away to prevent complications.

First, my aesthetician for the day, Amy, applied these markers on my brow--she said that it's for her to determine my brow's perfect shape.

Next, Amy mapped my brows--she said that it's for her to determine the areas that she's going to wax and pluck for my brow shape to show.

Now that Amy has determined my brows' correct shape, based on the mapping, it's time for the main event: waxing. First, Amy tested the wax on one of my inner arms and asked if I was okay with the temperature or if it had to be cooled down for a little-I was okay with it so I told her to go ahead and wax. Good job, Benefit, for implementing precautionary measures such as this one.

Before proceeding, I informed Amy that I wanted thick- looking brows and she obliged. When it's your turn to have your brows groomed here at Benefit or anywhere, I would suggest that you tell your aesthetician your preferred look and shape so you won't end up disappointed with the result (unless you grant them the freedom to give you a totally new look). What's beautiful for your aesthetician may not be beautiful to you so tell them the look that you want so you'll leave feeling happy and good.

How was the pain level? I'd give it 5 out of 10. It's virtually painless, but I felt discomfort when it came to the brow bone just because it is one of the most sensitive parts of the orbital eye, but for the rest of the areas, I did not feel any pain. It also helped that Amy would gently press on the treated areas right after waxing to ease discomfort. IMO, brow threading, even if I've been doing it for 3 years now, is still a bit more painful than this one.

Then again, the level of pain depends on your tolerance.

 YAY! Clean brows! :D

Amy gave me a brow hair cut after waxing. She also plucked out some really tiny hair strands that the wax had missed.

After the wax, cut, and pluck, a cold compress was applied on my brows to alleviate pain and redness as well as shrink pores. Never experienced this one before in Benefit and good thing they decided to add this extra-it really helped my skin recover from the treatment.

Final stage is grooming. Amy used Benefit Brow Zings in Medium to define my brows.

 And I'm done!

Thick, arched, defined brows-just the way I like it!

The treatment was done in 20 minutes flat--maximum is 30 minutes (for Brow Waxing only) and this is dependent on your grooming needs.

I observed the skin around my brows for two days after having the treatment to know if any problem will arise and thankfully, there was none.

Say hello, Amy! Look for her if you're going to have your brows done at Benefit Greenbelt 5!

I enjoyed my experience this time: it's fast, precise, sanitary, and Amy, my aesthetician, is very skilled, polite, and open to talking and being quiet as well, which I really liked. I see myself going back for this treatment! :)

Brow Waxing is P600.00 at local Benefit Cosmetics boutiques.

P.S. Benefit Cosmetics Philippines granted me a VIP card for their Brow Waxing services, but I did not reveal to the Greenbelt 5 staff that I am a Blogger/VIP until the treatment was finished for me to experience how they normally treat regular customers and write a review that's purely based on that.

  1. I'm so scared of Brow Waxing. It sounds so painful to me. Hehe. But the result is so good, I like the why how the thickness and archness complement each other.

  2. Your brows were awesome!!! Never tried waxing on my brows. I usually go to a parlor and get my brows thread. And I always end up dissapointed because some gays wanted a super nipis eyebrow!

  3. Your brows looked thicker and more emphasized after all the procedures has been done but i think, based on the photos you posted here on your blog and on Instagram, you have nicely shaped and well-groomed eyebrows to begin with. (perhaps you just let the stray hairs to grow because you planned to have them waxed). I always admire your brows whenever i see your photos. I think your brows and your skintone makes you even more beautiful. I have sparse eyebrows, i can even count them, haha!

  6. Can't decide between Benefit and Browhaus, although I'm leaning towards the latter because I don't think it's a good idea for me to sit for 30 minutes with all the Benefit goodies in sight haha

  7. i had my brows threaded recently and it was so painful, but the end result was worth the tears. i agree that it is very important to tell the person doing your eyebrows exactly what you want. i've had my fair share of botched eyebrows. getting my brows done is like getting a haircut - sometimes i like it, sometimes omg i want to kill the person who did it to me. haha

  8. i agree, your brows look aca-mazing! Sorry I still have the hangover from Pitch Perfect 2. :) I have tried brow waxing once, but sadly it was a thumbs down because not all the stray hairs were removed. I normally have my eyebrow threading but you have to have a suki else our brows will look different each time you have it done. I like how Benefit worked on achieving the brows that you wanted. your money that you paid for was worth it. 2 thumbs up for this!

  9. I had a bad experience with their waxing... I wasn't injured naman, they just put the makeup so bad. TBH, I'm still a bit scared to go to them, even if yours looks nice.

    1. I just has my brows waxed (for the very very first time ever, even though I'm already 20) at the exact same branch last week. I'm afraid I judged the lady by her brow make-up, so i didn't let her do brow make up even if it kills me. Hahaha

  10. I've never tried waxing pa din. Just threading. Sometimes talaga threading makes me cry unintentionally. :/ I once had my brows done at Browhaus and it was painful. But the result naman is pretty. It took me 30-40 minutes. :) I've never tried Benefit though. Since yours is so pretty, might as well try it too. :)And the price is worth it too, not so expensive

  13. heya, thanks for sharing this article.. This will surely help those who are in hurry to go somewhere in the part or wedding. No need to go in any Waxing In Las Vegas

  14. Thank you for your post! This tutorial is fabulous! Lots of great info including soaking the wax brush in water first overnight! No one ever told me to do that before

using it. It is the quickest, cheapest and efficient way to get rid of unwanted hair, however it is painful and temporary. By using this hair removal cream or Body Waxing Salon Las Vegas it helps you flaunt your skin without any unpleasant signs.

  16. I recently visited Benefit in Trinoma to get my brows waxed. That was my second time there. The result was diappointing!!! The lady remove more than needed in the inner end of my left brow. It was so uneven! Benefit is more premium than the other Brow shaping services so you'd expect a more premium service as well. But I guess it's not worth it!

  18. I always get my eyebrows threaded by superdrug now. And have learnt to tell the threader not to do them so thin, don't trim them etc, threading or waxing
