THE VERDICT:

Bioré's mentholated, beady facial foam is one of the first- ever facial washes I've ever used; I loved it to bits because it smelled good, felt really nice, and is so sudsy, something that I think all kids love with soaps and cleansers. In general, Bioré has really good facial foams that's why I hoarded when I visited Japan. We used to have Bioré here, but it was pulled out.

But Biorè is back in the Philippines, finally, and they brought in the sunscreens first. I wish they launched the facial foams first though, but at least they're here again and only good things will come next. :D

Anyway, these sunscreens, UV Watery Essence and UV Perfect Face Milk, are super awesome, multitasking sunscreens for oily and combination normal/oily skin.

BIORÈ UV AQUA RICH WATERY ESSENCE SUNSCREEN AND UV PERFECT FACE MILK SUNBLOCK IN DETAIL

UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence is a light, hydrating sunscreen with Hyaluronic Acid and Citrus Essence that's comprised of Orange, Grapefruit, and Lemon extracts for fresh protection.

UV Perfect Face Milk is a water/sebum/sweat resistant matte sunscreen that features sebum- absorbing powder, making it an ideal makeup base as well.

UV Watery Essence comes in soft, squeeze tube.

More about these oily skin- friendly sunscreens on my blog!

UV Watery Essence has the consistency similar to oil- free moisturizers (reminds me so much of Philosophy Hope In A Jar, actually). It has a fresh, creme-gel texture and a very light citrusy scent. It gets absorbed quickly as well.

UV Perfect Face Milk comes in a travel- friendly plastic bottle. The product is being dispensed from a tapered opening and I like it because it prevents me from getting too much of the product as it's quite runny and tends to flow.

Ingredients

UV Perfect Face Milk is a watery, milky emulsion. It is unscented and feels really, really light despite its matte, long- wearing finish.

BIORÈ UV AQUA RICH WATERY ESSENCE SUNSCREEN AND UV PERFECT FACE MILK SUNBLOCK IN ACTION

One layer of UV Perfect Face Milk

This sunscreen sets efficiently into a soft, matte finish and feels more like a primer than a sunscreen. Despite its finish, it does not feel drying to the normal parts of my face. I also love how it functions well both as a base for my makeup and as a UV protector! If used as a primer, it helps prolong my makeup, but I noticed that I would still oil up at my expected time, which is 3-4 hours after applying makeup; it's not that bad though considering that I oil up at around the same time too with other primers and the good thing with this one by Bioré is it has SPF. My tiny issue with it is it leaves a slight white cast.

One layer of UV Watery Essence

Watery Essence is just like a moisturizer. Period. No white cast, very moisturizing, and gets absorbed quickly. You can skip moisturizer when you use this product! It provides an all- day moisturizing action that it helps my skin suppress sebum production, as I noticed (Because Hydration is the great oil controller!). However, it is not a primer and does not claim to act like one unlike UV Perfect Face Milk; the sebum- suppressing action is just my personal observation.

More than their tropical climate and oily skin- friendly formula, what I love most about Biorè's sunscreens is they're so versatile, serving more than one purpose and being pretty good at it! So if you have oily skin or combination oily/normal skin and you're looking for a multitasking sunscreen that fits your skin type and budget, I would recommend these!

  2. I once saw my mom using this brand when I was still in high school. She said it can really make your skin so soft. It's great that we can find this product here in our country now. Thank you Ms. Martha for the review :)

  3. Yey for sunscreens for oily skin! Biorè's sunscreens seems really good because they are suited for our climate and for oily skin and most Filipinas have oily skin, right? The best thing about it them is that they are multi-tasking products.

  4. More affordable than sunkiller ha. But which is better for you? Biore or sunkiller? Anyway, this is a new product to try. Choices are getting bigger as foreign products reach the Philippines. I love the smell of menthol. :)

  6. Kkumkugo: You're welcome. :)

Valerie: Really? :( Sorry to hear about that.

Abegaill: Argh. Hard question. Both are good, but I'd be honest and say that I only tried one Sunkiller product. I think if you want a sunscreen with makeup properties, go for sunkiller. If you want sunscreen that has more skin care properties, go for Biore. :)

    Jhake: Agree! :)

Jeremy: Awww, you have sensitive skin? I hope they have sunscreens for skin types such as yours.

  7. Thanks for this review Martha. I have super oily face.... a grease ball! tried several brands of sunscreen for oily face but non of them controlled the oil from coming out. Sometimes I think I have an oil mine deep inside face :( Will definitely try the Perfect Face Milk to see if it's going to work on me.

  8. I noticed that alcohol is listed in the ingredients of Bioré Watery Essence, is it an irritant or not? Thanks! :)

  9. Happy that the brand is back here! Hoarded the watery essence from my last trip in Osaka. 50g is around 300 pesos only and the 85g is around 450 pesos (depends on the exchange rate).

  10. I just tried the Biore UV Perfect Face Milk and I instantly fell in love with it. It just solved my problem of sweat dripping the moisturizer down my face. I have oily skin, but after hours of wearing it (along with my other moisturizers), it never gave me an oily look, just an even dewy look on my face.
