THE VERDICT:

Sure, makeup artists got their favorite pricey makeup products, but did you know that one of their greatest product secrets is a drugstore product? It's L'Oreal True Match Foundation series! A lot of makeup artists I know swear by this range because it's good, shades are accurate with Filipina skin tones, and it's inexpensive, and I totally agree with them!

I got to try La Poudre True Match Powder Foundation and Le Teint True Match Liquid Foundation, which is the L'Oreal liquid foundation that a lot of makeup artists swear by. Le Teint joins the roster of my favorite drugstore foundations because it gives that My-Skin-But-Better coverage!

L'OREAL LA POUDRE TRUE MATCH AND LE TEINT TRUE MATCH LIQUID FOUNDATION IN N6 NUDE HONEY IN DETAIL

Le Teint is infused with Hyaluronic Acid to keep skin hydrated and made with even finer pigments for a more precise match.

La Poudre is made with Hyaluronic Acid as well and powder is made with Ultra Fine Technology and triple coated pigments for better skin adherence and a natural coverage.

Le Poudre's packaging is the same as Mat Magique's, but they only differ in color.

Ingredients

Swatches of these products after the break!

La Poudre has SPF 36 PA+++ and the darkest shade is N6 Nude Honey. How thoughtful of L'Oreal to have shades for ladies with dark skin tone.

Le Teint comes in the packaging of the first generation True Match liquid foundations. Packaging is handy and no-nonsense, and the glass material gives it that luxe look and feel.

N6 Nude Honey is a medium dark shade with a yellow undertone (love it!). It is unscented, has a watery, hydrating consistency, and yields light to medium coverage.

Bare skin

La Poudre yields light to medium coverage. Its fine and smooth powder texture makes it so versatile, and I think it can be used as a standalone powder or a correcting powder for off- looking bases. However, the shade I got, N6 Nude Honey, is a bit dark and looks ashy for my skin tone, unfortunately. I'd rather have a shade that's lighter than my skin tone because it's easier to correct than the darker ones.

Compared with Mat Magique, La Poudre looks more natural as it's formulated to blend seamlessly into the skin and yields a demi-matte finish. Staying power is so-so though: it doesn't control oil pretty well and tends to fade after a few hours. I believe this powder is best for those with normal skin and maybe dry skin because of its Hyaluronic Acid content and smooth texture.

One layer of Le Teint

FYI, the full name of this foundation is Le Teint True Match Super-Blendable Liquid Foundation and I find this claim to be true: it blends like a dream and sets into a pretty, dewy veil that boosts skin's look, radiance, and texture naturally; As I said, it's "my skin, but better."

If you have grave marks though, conceal with a heavy duty concealer first before applying this foundation.

Initially, I was a bit disappointed with the liquid foundation because it yielded a strong white cast, but good thing I decided to wait it out for a bit before setting with translucent powder because it adjusted itself to my skin tone; it still had a bit of white cast to it, but it wasn't as bad as the initial application. Staying power is okay: it stays the whole day with minimal fading and its hydrating formula somehow minimizes oil production, at least on me.

Between the two products, I really, really like the liquid foundation because it gives me good- looking skin in an instant and imo, it's one of the best hydrating foundations out there because it hydrates without the goopiness. I even call Le Teint the "Opportunity Foundation" because it gives me opportunity- ready skin or skin that just makes me feel confident to take on new tasks, meet new people, and seize new opportunities. As for the powder, I'd have to get my right shade to know if I'll end up liking it or not.

Le Teint has just cemented L'Oreal's status as the best drugstore liquid foundation, at least in my heart. I highly recommend it. ;)

  7. They do have better range in terms of color in their foundations. So tired of too yellow-orange or too neutral and even pink undertones in the market.

  10. Parang nadadamihan na ko sa true match range. Haha. Anyway, good thing it has a dark shade na, unlike other brands. :) And it's really good for an affordable liquid foundation. I just don't like it that much that you needed to wait for it to match your color. Not advisable for hurry days. :)

    1. Hello and welcome to my blog! I'm afraid it didn't say in the label, but based on experience, I did not break out with it; test it out first in any L'Oreal counter to check if your skin is compatible with it. :)
