 THE VERDICT:

I've been observant on makeup formulations lately. Maybe because I've been doing a lot of social media listening and trend watching as part of my job. So lately, I have observed that there's a new kind of Sheer lipstick: it's still light and fresh- looking, but no longer diluted in terms of color; it's finally a category, not just something that looks like tinted lip balm. Bobbi Brown's Sheer Lip Color is one of the new age sheer lipsticks I'm talking about. Want a sheer lipstick that packs an equal punch of color and moisture? Bobbi's Sheer Lip Color, it is.

BOBBI BROWN SHEER LIP COLOR IN CRYSTAL PINK IN DETAIL

Sheer Lip Color is a glossy lipstick with rich pigmentation and moisture courtesy of Apricot Kernel Oil, Murumuru Oil, and Shea Butter that condition lips during wear and improve its condition overtime. It features a translucent base for truer than true color payoff.

Consistency is soft, buttery, and melts right onto the lips; It softens dry and chapped areas instead of going under the hanging skin, lifting 'em up, and emphasizing them further like what most sheer lipsticks do. It has a Vanilla scent. Texture is rich, but surprisingly feels really light and sheer when worn. Given its formula, I feel that this one's prone to melting so don't ever leave under hot temperature!

BOBBI BROWN SHEER LIP COLOR IN CRYSTAL PINK IN ACTION

Crystal Pink is a blue- toned Pink with a hint of Peach; It's a shade that's as fresh as spring and delicate as a lace dress. Staying power is great for a Sheer lipstick because of its semi- sticky base (don't worry, it's the irritating kind of sticky) and it moisturizes lips the whole day.

Did you know that Bobbi calls this the 'Mistake- proof, no mirror lipstick'? Why? Because the translucent base, apart from encouraging true color payoff, minimizes staining; apply it while on the go, in the elevator, while walking, or anytime you need to touch up and nope, you won't get nasty stains all over!

This is a very good Sheer lipstick and I see myself checking out the other colors. In fact, I can say that this is the Sheer lipstick formula I love to date! If you want a lightweight, high performance lipstick, grab Bobbi Brown Lip Color!

  1. My first impression of the color was 'meh' but after seeing the in action photo, it's actually not bad! I cringed a bit when I saw the price but realized that they are only 300php higher than MAC lipsticks so I guess it makes me feel that if I can splurge on some MAC lipsticks, then Bobbi Brown couldn't be that bad. I'll check this out the next time I visit Rustan's. Thanks for this post!

  3. I love red lipstick but i'm wearing and liking pink lips lately. Is it the age??? Anyway, on the closeup photo, it looks Barbie-ish to me but the whole face photo, the color looks great! Not "in your face" like what I expected

  4. I don't use lipstick often because I have dry, flaky lips and even if it's moisturized, it still dries really fast and the lipsticks I have tried highlights those flakes but this lipstick makes your lips look really soft and moisturized and plump and it's just so pretty! I wish I can shell out a thousand pesos for it though >.<

  6. Any good dupes for this shade? I like how when you posted the photos, you can actually see that it's blue-based (referring to that question I sent you before).

  8. What I look for in a lipstick: not red (orange-y, pinkish, or mauve), great staying power, sheer/satin (not matte), and moisturizing/not drying. This Bobbi Brown Sheer lip color is quite ideal if not for the price :( Thanks for sharing, though! I love your reviews, Martha. I'm a fan! :)

  10. I think glossy lipsticks are now stealing the spotlight again. :) And napansin ko din, nauuso na yung lippies with flat top. Anyway, it kinda look sticky nga from the close-up shot but from afar, it looks bearable. I love that it doesn't look too glossy na parang binasa ng water. :)
