FAN MAIL FRIDAYS: Best BB Cream Brands For Morenas

Hola, ladies! How's August going for you? Mine's pretty challenging because I got a lot on my plate and stuff to finish before the Ghost week, which reminds me that I gotta stock up on my vitamin supplements today; can't afford to get sick this month until December! :D

Anyway, today's week ender is about BB Cream brands that have good shade options for Morenas. This question is from Averie:

Hi Martha!
Can you recommend BB Creams for Morenas? Most BB Creams available here are usually for fair- skinned people. Thanks a lot! :)
Averie

Hi Averie!

If you wrote to me 2 years ago, I would agree with you. The BB Cream industry has improved significantly already in the last few years; a lot of brands have expanded their BB Cream shade selections, but generally, it's still a product that caters to fair skintones-this part, I have to agree with you.

But the most important thing is finally, there are better options for morenas like us now compared to two years ago. Now here's my list of approved brands that offer ample shade options for Morenas.

1. THE BODY SHOP

- This brand doesn't really offer a lot of shades per line, but they do make sure that any skin tone will somehow find a shade that fits.

2. TONY MOLY

- One of the reasons why I fell in love with this Korean brand is because their BB Creams have shades for warmer skin tones. Also, their BB Creams are good!

3. BENEFIT

- Benefit Big Easy is one of my favorite BB Creams because: it is very well- made, has a nice texture, great staying power, weightless, and has morena- friendly shades.

4. POND'S

- This is my other favorite Pond's product aside from the facial wash. Who would ever think that Pond's would make such nice BB Creams?

5. MISSHA

- My top BB Cream pick is Missha. To date, it's the brand that has the best BB Cream products for me and I can't help but be impressed by their shade selection with shades for fair to dark (read that? dark! :D) skin tones!

Feel free to expand the list, my lovely Morena readers! :)

  1. Haven't tried any of them since I met liquid foundations which suit my oily skin. The very first one I tried was from Maybelline, it's oily but I like it a bit dahil muka kang "korean-ish" talaga pag nakabb cream. I will try one from your list Ms.M soon!

  2. Ay! I cannot help agreeing regarding the limited shade ranges available for BB creams! I'm happy we now have BB creams for more darker skin tones. I remember you made a review regarding that tony moly BB cream and I recommended it to my sister and she loves it very much! Sad that it's out of stock in every Tony Moly branch she goes to. Huhu. I hope they restock! I will have to try BB creams from The Body Shop and from Missha. They look interesting! :) thanks for this post. :)

    1. Sadly I think the darker shade of the Tony Moly BB cream has been discontinued a few months ago. The official website says it's still available but only in the lighter color. Also Tony Moly SAs from different branches told me that the darker shade hasn't been restocked for months :(( It was so affordable pa naman huhu

  3. Hello there Ms. M.i really appreciate your choice of posting this article just in time when I am searching for something to buy as a gift.I actually thought of bb cream but sadly I was a loss in thinking about a morena shade.I cannot give my mom the normal shade i use as a present because I am fair and my mom is more exposed to the warm sun due to the nature of her work.Thank you!Now I know what shade to look and where to find.We are really lucky that cosmetic brands have thought about making tones suited for the exquisite Filipina skin.Sana nga there will be more brands to do the same.I don't think morenas should be shy about their color/tone when I am one to wish I am also morena:)Filipina skin is truly beautiful and we should be proud about it.

  4. Missha bb cream is by far the best among your list. Such a good investment especially the missha signature real complete bb cream with spf 25. So many good benefits like wrinkle care.

  7. I am not a morena but even I find it hard to find a BB cream to match my skin :P I am usually the second or third shade (if they have a third shade) of a brand but SAs always say "No, you should buy shade number 1" =.= To morenas, Innisfree shades are usually one shade lighter than others. So for example Etude House's Natural Beige is darker than Innisfree's Natural Beige. So... I don't think Innisfree is morena friendly :)

    1. Yeah, I swatched a couple of Innisfree BB creams in Hong Kong, but I did not find anything that matched my skin tone so I went for their skin care instead. :p

  8. This is the first time I've heard of Missha. Where can you buy this?

I hope it doesn't break out my skin like Etude House BB cream does.

    1. Really? It's been around for quite a while now and has been in the Philippines for about 2 or 3 years now. I saw their store at SM Hypermart Pasig before. Don't know if it's still there though. :)

  9. I always rely on these kind of lists that you make para maraming alternatives on purchasing particular products. I may not have morena skintone but knowing that these are brands that you have tried and tested makes me feel safer to pursue other variants of their product line.

Happy user of the body shop and ponds bb cream here! The face shop is nice too. Pure beauty is nice too, though limited shades only. 😄

  11. Hi ms m, i tried commenting on this post yesterday but it wasnt saved? (i used mobile phone yesterday)

I would agree on you ms m, kahit sa mga foundations limited ang shades for morena (meron man pero hindi available sa pinas) from your list i would love to try the BB cream from ponds, they have smaller tubes (i think it costs less than 200php) my main concern is the visible veins on my cheeks (lower portion) im not much into foundations ms m, so i love bb creams they were lighter and yes much cheaper (i tried cc cream from avon too, i use foundation stick from maybelline but i got the lighter shade which is radiance) then mas darker yung forehead ko =(

i will try ponds and tony moly =) thank you for the recommendations ms m =)

  12. Hands down for Missha bb cream. It's my favorite as well. It has a wide selection of shade, and is light on the skin. It might be a bit pricey but it's worth it. I like Pond's and Maybelling bb creams too, affordable yet good quality. :)

  13. Hi Martha! I love your recommendations for BB Cream but for me Pond's BB Cream and Missha M Perfect BB Cream are my go to BB Creams. Sometimes I try to combine these two because Pond's has a demi matte finish and Missha is more dewy and the finish is amazing! Not too dewy not too matte either. Medyo off yung colors ng slight lang pero nothing a powder or bronzer can fix! :)
