 THE VERDICT:

I've been to God knows how many Christmas parties these past three weeks, thus God also knows how much filth and dead skin cells accumulate on my face every week caused by commuting and going around the city. Exfoliation is one thing I'm diligent at lately because of my sched!

I've always wanted to drop by a derma these past few weeks for a more thorough exfoliation, but sadly, ain't nobody got time fo' that so what's been saving me lately is Benefit Refined Finish Facial Polish, a heavy duty scrub that gives me fresh, clean, renewed skin after every use.

BENEFIT REFINED FINISH FACIAL POLISH IN DETAIL

This polish brightens and uplifts dull complexions; has Clay Mineral, seaweed, nutrients, and sugars that help purify skin.

This has got to be the quirkiest facial scrub I've ever seen! Props to Benefit for their awesome packaging!

 Ingredients

One thing that I wish Benefit would replace from the ingredients of this product is Polyethylene, the ingredient that makes up the beads (Polyethylene Beads); This is a synthetic product that gets washed off into the sea and other waterways when we rinse it off our bodies; it will probably take millions of years for this product to break down and disappear so I am urging Benefit to replace Polyethylene with crushed apricot kernels/fruit or nut seeds/sugar instead; this goes out to all brands who use the same ingredient in their scrubs too.

I digress. The scrub comes with a Porefessional sample!

BENEFIT REFINED FINISH FACIAL POLISH IN ACTION

Refined Polish has a light floral scent with a texture that's in between a face scrub and microdermabrasion, therefore it's perfect for those who want an effective, but non- sensitizing facial scrub; it washes off easily and leaves my skin feeling and looking fresh, clean, and super smooth right after rinsing. I like that it doesn't give me dry, taut, sensitive skin despite its pretty gritty texture, and thankfully, no breakouts with this product. I find this product pretty helpful when my face is plagued with whiteheads because it helps get rid of them quickly.

Refined Polish is something that you will like if you want a scrub that's better than your usual or if you want an at-home alternative for spa exfoliation.

  3. Double thumbs up for the packaging. As I have said as always to my comments before, I really really love scrubs and to exfoliate regularly is my thing. This benefit facial polish is quite interesting, however this is a bit pricey for me.

  4. Eh, I wouldn't buy a scrub with polyethylene beads after I learned about what they do to marine life. St. Ives is still the one for me :)

  6. I use St. Ives as well, and I have this scrub called Natural High Facial Scrub. It has apricot seeds and walnut shell according to the ingredients. Thanks for sharing Ms. Martha!

  7. Thanks for informing us about Polyethylene. I hope body and bath product manufacturers realize how much damage Polyethylene could do to the environment. I still want to try this one though. It's just pricey for me now.

    1. Yes. In fact, there are about 55 billion polyethylene beads found at the floors of the oceans around the world. I just wish brands will take this seriously and will be more environmentally conscious. If other brands can do it, I don't see the reason why some can't. :)

    1. That facial wash by Celeteque is a bit milder than this one in my opinion. :)

  10. New info about the beads! :) Anyway, I also use St. Ives for my scrub and it works well. I usually scrub my face 2-3 times a week, especially if I put on makeup for consecutive days. :)
