 THE VERDICT:

Ah, NYX, Beauty Blogging's pillar product. Every Beauty Blogger has come across this brand, and, at one point, has owned A LOT of their cult favorite Round Lipsticks (me included) and went gaga over their products. This brand is one of the firsts to prove that quality doesn't really have to come at an expensive price tag; it's been YEARS since I owned a NYX product and I got these new NYX babies namely Matte Bronzer and Illuminator just recently and I am quite impressed with how they look now: the brand looks more posh and chic! With the recent changes in the look and feel of their products, NYX still lives up to the "good quality=affordable price" principle (and even exceeded it) up to this very day.

Let me go and swatch these babies for you. :)

NYX MATTE BRONZER IN MEDIUM AND ILLUMINATOR IN CHAOTIC IN DETAIL

Matte Bronzer is a silky, pigmented powder that comes in 5 russet shades for that golden, honeyed glow.

Illuminator features a powder that diffuses light and brightens the complexion; it comes in 5 shades.

Ingredients

The products come in a shiny, black compact; looks sleek and chic; it's a far cry from NYX's old packaging before!

The Bronzer in Medium is a muted terracota brown shade with a honey undertone. The Illuminator in Chaotic, on the other hand, is a shimmery peachy pink; it's like a more shimmery version of Nars Orgasm.

Both products have a smooth, silky, pigmented texture, although can be chalky if you take too much; always tap off excess powder before blending the products onto your skin for a more natural- looking finish.

NYX MATTE BRONZER IN MEDIUM AND ILLUMINATOR IN CHAOTIC IN ACTION

One layer of the Illuminator

This Illuminator is great for oily skin because it yields soft radiance, not the type that makes you look oily the moment you put it on so go ahead, oily- skinned lady, highlight away! Product just looks too shimmery for life on the pan, but it's actually one of the most natural- looking illuminators I've encountered. However, Chaotic, with its strong peachy pink hue, makes it as good as blush also and what I don't like is it yields a pinkish color on my T-Zone. If I'll repurchase this product, I'd go for the cream/white/champagne illuminator so it will be more versatile.

One layer of the Bronzer

NYX's Bronzer collection is really good for warm skin; the honey tones enhance morena/yellow- toned skin and gives it a warm glow; I also like that it's matte and quality is good, making it a great contouring product find in the drugstore. However, shades in this range may look a tad bit orange on fair skin.

Overall, both products have pretty good quality for a drugstore brand; they might have a few caveats, but are completely ignorable. If you're morena- skinned, you'll love the bronzer range; if you're fair- skinned, you'll love the highlighter range.

  2. Nyx is really not that expensive but it looks like the bronzer is a bit on the dark side? But since it has other shades, I might as well try it out if somethings fits my skin tone.

  4. I use the celeteque palette as my blush, highlighter and countour powder, I think that NYX is comparable to it? Have you tried the celeteque one? Is this one any better? The celeteque lacks a bit of power kasi in my opinion. :)
Congrats again on your 7th year, hoping to be able to celebrate with you on april 30!! :)
