FAN MAIL FRIDAYS: Best Liquid Matte Lipsticks

Happy Friday y'all!

I have a confession to make.

I've been having this insatiable appetite to try every new liquid lipstick I see, most especially if they're indie or never- heard-of brands, at least locally. I've acquired a couple from some indie brands namely Jouer and Caked Co., and I'll be reviewing them real soon!

Our FMF for today is related to my obsession that's why I'm so excited to answer it! Question is from Amor:

Hi Martha!
Liquid matte lipsticks are so in trend lately. Can you recommend good brands?
Amor

Hey Amor!

Thanks for this question! I'm transitioning to liquid matte lipsticks too and I think it's not a good one for my wallet haha! But heck, this should be fun; I'm out and about, exploring different brands again! So far, here are the ones that I've tried and liked.

- By far, Jeffree has the best liquid lipstick formula for me: it's very pigmented, staying power is superb, it hugs the lips nicely, and most importantly, it does not dry out my lips. I am loving the unique root beer scent too.

- This creamy liquid lipstick is a master in pigmentation and I love its lip plumping effect.

- OFRA is an underrated liquid lipstick brand, at least locally, and let me tell you that they have a pretty good formula! Quality is great, staying power is very good, and it feels like the nice kind of matte on the lips.

- Pink Sugar's liquid lipstick isn't exactly liquid, but mousse. It's affordable, but surprisingly good; formula doesn't dry out my lips!

- Happy Skin's one of the first local makeup brands to produce a liquid matte lipstick under the Glam Squad collection. It is very pigmented, a true liquid lipstick in terms of consistency, and staying power is amazing; it just tends to dry out my lips and settle into fine lines on some days, but generally, formula is good.

- One of the first- ever liquid matte lipsticks! NYX Soft Lip Cream yields a nice, soft matte finish; it's matte for those who are intimidated by bold, flat mattes.

- Sleek Matte Me, an instant hit in the Philippines the first time the brand launched here, is one of the very affordable but very good liquid matte lipsticks around. Of course, you gotta try Birthday Suit!

That's all! Will be creating a new list once I get my hands on my upcoming orders! :)

  3. Have you tried colourpop? It's a little drying but but it's the most matte out of all I've tried.

  5. Pink Sugar and Sleek palang natry ko! Gosh! Miss Martha may difference ba yung dating Pink Sugar sa latest nila ngayon? Hidi ko kasi gusto formula nung unang lip and cheek tint nila eh.

  7. Thank you for sharing ypur favorites! I've also been hooked into buying liquid lipsticks, but I haven't found one that really satisfies what I'm looking for in liquid lipsticks--longevity, comfort, and smoothness. The ones I have last pretty long but look extra flaky towards the end of the day. I want to try NYX, Pink Sugar, OFRA, and of course, Jeffree Star! I'd also love to hear your thoughts about Caked and Jouer because they're pretty famous on Instagram. Ahhhh, I need to control my impulsive tendencies!!! =)))

  8. oh. I was so surprised to see there isn't any kylie cosmetics or colourpop lippies included in your list. okay lang kasi may pink sugar at happy skin naman na kasama, mas madali hanapin dito at local brands pa sila.

  9. I would love to try Jeffree Star's liquid lippies! They look promising, especially Unicorn Blood. I also like Ofra especially Mocha, and of course Nyx. Haven't got the chance to get Sleek but with you recommending it, I might finally cave in. Have you gotten the chance to try Wet n' Wild's (Megalast) liquid lippies, would you know if they're any good?

  10. I also just tried Happy Skin's glam squad. Looks good on camera and pigmented. Although I agree it settles on fine lines and dries out the lips. Maybe not recommended for everyday use. :(

  11. I'm really quite intrigue with the Caked Co. Brand Ms. M. Been seeing that a lot from the foreign bloggers I'm also following. Is it already available here in the Philippines? Would really watch out for your review on this product. =)

I've only tried Nyx Soft Matte lip creams in Addis Ababa and Amsterdam and I remember finishing the entire creams till the last application haha.. i love it because it so long wearing, no touch up recommended because it stains and stays the whole day.. i am yet to buy the Juan Sarte liquid lippies when I have the money! excited for that!

  24. I am one of those who are getting addicted into liquid matte lipsticks! I have to agree with you, Ofra is an underrated brand here. I've tried it before and it's really good! I like the colors and staying power and is not drying on the lips. I have also tried Sleek's Matte Me Lip Cream in Birthday Suit! It's perfect for everyday use! Pink Sugar and Happy Skin are some of the best Filipino cosmetic brands in the country! They can compete with more popular brands in terms of quality and pricing! Based on my observation, most girls from a local fb page of makeup lovers that I am a member of are more into Colourpop lippies. They are afforable and has great staying power but the Ultra Matte line can be sooooo drying. Have you tried it?
