FAN MAIL FRIDAYS: Great Finishing Powders (Spend and Save)

Heya! It's Friday and I'm finally feeling better from my lower back muscle spasm; had too much workout this week and my back suffered from it; lesson learned again and again, respect your body!

Here's a question from Charm and she asked all about finishing powders:

Hi Martha,
With all the buzz about cushions, I am still in search of a finishing powder that I can use. I have combination type of skin, hence using a cushion/bb cream is a no-no for me. Any recommendation? Affordable and expensive brands, please!

 Hey Charm!

Great question! I love finishing powders and they are essential to my routine because like you, I have oily skin and they 'fix' my makeup, making it look either more dewy, long- lasting, or just nicer overall.

Here are five of my favorite affordable and expensive finishing powders.

AFFORDABLE

- The name says it all; this powder mattifies, sets makeup, and makes it more resistant to sweat and oil!

 2. BYS BANANA POWDER (P399.00)

- A good alternative to Ben Nye banana powder; provides a smoother finish and the yellow tint helps warm up light foundations.

3. ESSENCE COLOR CORRECTING MATTIFYING POWDER (Around P250.00+)

- A good powder that helps brighten the skin, minimizing the look of some discolorations, especially redness.

4. ESSENCE STAY ALL DAY TRANSLUCENT FIXING POWDER (Around P260.00+)

- One of my most favorite drugstore setting powders! This fixing powder gives your makeup and instant matte fix!

- A mattifying powder that has anti-acne properties to boot.

EXPENSIVE

- This baby is not famous for nothing! If you want that ethereal finish to your makeup, this is the powder to choose!

2. MAC BLOTTING POWDER

- A favorite of mine from MAC; this translucent, sheer powder takes away shine without the additional coverage, thus preventing cakiness.

- One of my favorite retouching powders because it retouches color with little to no additional layer of powder; the micro shimmer in it provides a warm glow to the skin as well.

- A pretty good dupe for MAC Blotting powder!

That's all! Don't forget to share your favorite finishing powders in the comments section. Tell me which ones from my list that you've tried already, ayt? :)

  2. Ang ganda talaga ng Guerlain Meteorites, hanggang tingin lang ako sayo. I'm contented with my Innisfree No Sebum Mineral Powder, un lang kase ang powder ko at the best sya sa oiliness ko.

  5. OMG for the GUERLAIN METEORITES, when I saw your review for that I wanted to have them. I actually went to the mall to see them in person, it was so beautiful! But if your on a budget, buy Coty Airspun, I also learned that one from Ms. Martha and until now parang ang dami pa niya, hindi ata nauubos :)
