Tapping Into The Power of Essential Oils with VNM Naturals

If you will just be a bit geeky with skin care, you'll be able to harness the different powers of products and use them to better your routine and most especially, your skin. Last weekend, I went to Tagaytay to learn how we can improve our health, skin, and well- being with Essential Oils through an Aromatherapy Oil Fusion workshop with VNM Naturals.

VNM Naturals is one of the popular modern Filipino skin care brands. They have been around for 10 years and have been very well known for their Emu Oil product, which according to users, is useful in treating a variety of skin conditions like Psoriasis and providing a bevy of benefits like hair growth, skin moisture, lightening, and skin strengthening to name a few. Along with other best- sellers are African Black Soap, Keep Safe Sunblock, CPCG Oil, and Bikini Bomb, which a lot swear by for lightening of underarms, knees, elbows, and bikini area.

VNM Naturals kicks off the year with the launch of Pure Actives Essential Oil collection, a collection of 10 essential oils that can be used for skin care, home, wellness, and aromatherapy.

What is an Essential Oil?

Essential Oils are extracts from various plant species; they are obtained through steam distillation and contain the most potent, aromatic substances of the plant.

What are the uses of Essential Oil?

In retail, essential oils are usually marketed towards home and aromatherapy use because its volatile nature can cause mild to serious side effects if used on the skin without proper preparation. But with the proper knowledge and know-how, we can experience the magic essential oils can bring to skin care and our health.

When it comes to skin care, I learned in the workshop that essential oils can be used with just about any skin care product including moisturizers, lotions, body and facial oils, and serums because you will only need a few drops; the carrier products (your lotions, moisturizers, regular facial oils, and serums) will have the majority of the volume-this is called oil dilution. You cannot use an equal or more amount of the essential oils because as I mentioned, they're very potent.

For wellness, you can mix and match essential oils to help soothe common illnesses such as flu, colds, stuffy nose, headache, and cough. For example, Frankincense, Bergamot, Peppermint, and Eucalyptus can help you deal with the common flu, colds, and cough. This is what I am interested to try as I have never been a big fan of resorting to medicine right away when I'm dealing with common illnesses.

For aromatherapy and home use, pour essential oil into your trusty diffuser. These are natural remedies to conditions like anxiety, having a hard time sleeping, and hyperactive brain to name a few. For example, lavender and chamomile can help ease the senses and lull you to sleep. Just like skin care, do not overdo essential oil usage as it can have side effects due to inhalation.

With a bevy of uses and benefits for the health and skin, VNM Naturals is on point for calling their essential oil collection OILS OF THE EARTH!

Any advice before using essential oils?

Here are some things to keep in mind before dealing with essential oils.

1. If pregnant, seek doctor's advise before usage. Same with sensitive skin.
2. Essential Oils are not advised to be applied directly to the body because they can cause skin sensitivity and dermatitis that can linger for years.
3. Not all essential oils are safe to be used by the general public. Strong essential oils extracted from cinnamon, black pepper, lemongrass, fennel, and rosemary to name a few may cause intense side effects such as poisoning, irritation, and inflammation if used in high doses and not handled by an expert so steer clear unless knowledgeable and stick with common, safer essential oils.
4. Essential oils are not meant to be swallowed, unless retailer and manufacturer dub them as food grade or good for ingestion.
5. Do not expose yourself to the sun after using essential oils because it can cause burning or skin sensitivity.
6. Essential oils are homeopathic remedies. They should not be treated in any way as alternative medicine to serious conditions and diseases.

VNM Naturals Pure Actives Essential Oils come in the following variants:

1. Lavender
2. Orange
3. Peppermint
4. Bergamot
5. Tea Tree
6. Frankincense
7. Eucalyptus
8. Ylang Ylang
9. Lemongrass
10. Chamomile

The essential oils are priced differently and starts at P400.00. Visit VNM NATURALS on Facebook for more information about this collection.

In the next posts let's put these tips and techniques to use as I'll be showing you how you to customize your facial oil!

  4. Been inlove for V&M Naturals for a long time now. I also went to their head quarters in the faraway land of I think it's Valenzuela I can't remember. But I love their products so much that even though it's a little pricey you tend to still lean on them because it works for you, it's a Philippine brand and it doesn't use harmful chemicals. I even switch to their feminine wash! I am also in love with CPCG oil and Bikini Bomb.
