FAN MAIL FRIDAYS: Affordable and Fun Makeup Brands for Teens

Oh hey! I did not realize that my two blog posts are related today! :D The previous one is a good foundation for teens that I discovered and today, I'll share drugstore makeup brands that are fun, affordable, and totally teen- friendly! Thanks Lady for the question!

Hi Ms. Martha,
I'm Lady, 16 years old, and a huge lover of makeup. I'm currently building my makeup kit and I'm wondering if you can suggest makeup brands that are affordable for teens like me. I also want the colors and packaging to be fun. Thanks for your advice! I love your Instagram feed! #goals!

 Hey Lady!

Thank you for writing! And thanks also for appreciating my Instagram content! Without further ado, let me list down five affordable beauty brands that you can easily access in drugstores (or department stores) that fit you criteria for makeup: fun and affordable. I personally use their brands too for the same reason!

1. PINK SUGAR
PRICE POINT: P299-P699

- A local brand that's intended for sassy, fun- loving women, but with their packaging and oozing cuteness, I definitely think that teens will love this brand too! Must- try from the brand are Pink Sugar Our Lil' Secret Liquid Foundation, Our Lil' Secret Concealer (tube), Sweet Cheeks HD Blushes, Eye Candy Auto Eyeliner Pencil (fave! It's waterproof!), and Sugar Tint Lip and Cheek Tint.

2. ESSENCE COSMETICS
PRICE POINTS: P199-P600+

- A fairly affordable brand and competes with the price point of Careline and Bobbie. What I love about Essence is aside from makeup, there's nail polish and a some care products too like eyebrow serum. My favorites from the brand are Essence All About Matt loose powder (this is the new name of the product), Pure Nude Highlighter,  and UV Base.

3. BOBBIE COSMETICS
PRICE POINT: P85-P250

- A dainty brand that screams TEEN! My personal experience is despite the price, Bobbie has some pretty good stuff in the range. My favorites from the brand are Bobbie Cosmetics Dual Powder and Into the Nudes eyeshadow palette.

4. JORDANA COSMETICS
PRICE POINT: P200-P700

- One of the most affordable drugstore brands in the US. Jordana is well- known for their always up-to-date product and color database, plus the products hold up nicely under the Philippine weather. My favorites from the brand are Jordana Forever Flawless Pressed Powder and Sweet Matte Lip Cream.

5. CARELINE
PRICE: P80-P200+

- But of course, the classic Filipino teens makeup brand, Careline, should be part of the list. Careline recently revamped its branding and products so if you're looking for a brand that's not only fun and affordable, but also cool, look no further. My favorite from the brand so far is Careline Liquid Matte Lipsticks.

Good luck finding the right makeups for you, Lady! Happy Friday, everyone!

  2. I wish I was also that early in preparing my kikay kit. Haha. When I was 16, I only had Johnson's baby powder and Avon lip gloss. Haha.
In addition to the list above, I think Ever Bilena is one brand that's useful and affordable and great for beginners/teens. Though the packaging I think may not be that cool/fun. But I just remember having EB products during my college days. :)

  4. I'm expecting Careline to be in the list and.. it really is! The products you've mentioned are teen budget-friendly but they perform like the other brands of much higher price range. I personally like Pink Sugar and Essence.

  6. Also try Maybelline, they were my first makeups back when I was in High School, but I don't wear them everyday, I only use them on special occasions, Prom, Graduation, etc.

  7. I think these brands are not only perfect for teens but for sassy moms too like me haha! Since budget is constrained due to children’s needs, these make-up brands are heaven sent! I personally love essence and pinksugar! Thanks to you for pinksugar hehe... I want to try the Jordana brand. :) and to add to the list, maybe chihuahua cosmetics is a fit too!

  9. Reading this kind of topic or blogpost is really helpful for moms like me who has teenage daughters. I do have two teens, my eldest is also building his makeup kit which most of the items are from me. Your recommendations are really good choices, we've tried a few items from Careline, Essence and Bobbie.
