THE VERDICT:

With its price point, trendy shades, and generally basic makeup range, I think Jordana is one of the best starter makeup brands for teenage girls who are starting to explore makeup application.

I recently received Jordana Oil- Free Creamy Liquid Foundation (this will be part of the giveaways at TBJ 9th Mega Anniversary!), a light, straightforward foundation with a teen skin- friendly finish and price point!

Ingredients

Jordana Oil- Free Creamy Liquid Foundation is a medium to full coverage foundation that promises a fresh, promising a flawless, shine- free finish for a "woke up like this" look. Locally, we have about 6 shades available.

The bottle does not come with a pump, which is one of the flaws for me. I really prefer a pump for my foundation so I can control the amount I take, plus it inhibits contamination of the product inside the bottle.

The shade that suits me best in the range is 04 Tan, a medium shade with yellow undertone. It looks pretty light for my skin tone in the swatch, but it blends seamlessly into a like- skin finish. Consistency is a runny cream. Coverage is more of light to medium. Payoff is semi- matte.

Let's try on the foundation:

Bare skin

Two layers of the foundation

To get medium coverage, apply at least two layers of the foundation. The foundation sets easily and  the consistency, even if a little runny, does not look streaky when blended. I also love that it feels weightless on the skin, plus provides a bit of a moisturizing feel yet without the greasiness. If you have blemished skin, use with a concealer.

TIP: This foundation is best applied with a traditional foundation brush.

The overall finish of the foundation is very natural; something that you'd wear on a casual day and on good skin days. I do believe that makeup works two ways: 1. Complements your features. 2. Enhances your features. Generally, with teenage skin, I believe it doesn't need a lot of heavy coverage (unless of course you have severe skin problems) and a foundation that evens out the skin and gives it a natural, dewy finish should do the trick.

Wear this with one of my super favorite Jordana products, Forever Flawless Pressed Powder.

As for the wear time, it stays put for about 3 hours before oil begins to seep from my pores. While this product is oil- free and won't exacerbate oily skin problems, it does not have exceptional oil control properties. Well, at least it doesn't add to the problem!

Jordana Creamy Oil- Free Foundation is something that teen girls will love because of the finish and price point: it provides sheer or medium coverage that address varying coverage needs plus it's also one of the affordable oil- free foundations out there. I can see myself wearing this product on casual days, but my nearly 30's skin has different needs now so I tend to reach for my other, heavier foundations. But if I were a teen, I'd use this!

Have you tried this product already? What are your thoughts?

  2. Jordana has somewhat similar price point with Maybelline. Though I prefer their pressed powders more than maybelline because I find that it has more oil conteol.

  5. I started with just an eyeliner and a baby powder when I was in 1st year college. That was it until I graduated college. With my first job as an account executive( dealt with the purchasing men of different companies,I learned to put pressed powder,eye-shadow,blus and lipstick. Now that I am 35,with twin daughters, I have few makeups(most are gifts) I still don't know how to choose the right foundation shade for me, even identifying my skin shade. Huhuhu 😢 Since I only have 2 foundations ( San-san and LOL) I used to ccombine them coz the first is too light and the latter is too dark.hehe. I have an oily skin and I struggle to know what liquid foundation can best suit my skin. I hope you could give me some pointer,Ms. Martha on ways to know the skim tone, shade in foundations, how to know what foundation (cheap drugstore) could best suit oily skin like me. Thank you very much and God bless 😊😊😊
