THE VERDICT:

After trying out these precious makeup items from Kanebo, I learned two things:

1. Kanebo is a luxury Japanese beauty brand (Yeah, just found out about this lately)
2. Kanebo Luster Cream Foundation is seriously expensive, but seriously good.

I'll be honest with you; I freaked out when I learned about the SRP of the foundation and immediately had reservations about it, but when I tried it, I realized that cream foundation can indeed be soft, luminous, and skin like while still retaining its precious full coverage!

I also have two other Kanebo products, Variant Brosse Contour and Intense Crayon Rouge, which I'd like to talk about as well in this post.

Kanebo Variant Brosse Rouge is a blush and highlighter duo. This three- pan palette with two blushes (warm for contouring and light for color) and a highlighter, I believe, is from one of their holiday collections. As with all Japanese makeup brands, the product and palette are always sold separately.

Variant Brosse is a finely- milled powder duo that blends well onto the skin. The shade I have, Light, is just too light for my skin tone. :( I can't make it work and my camera can't capture the swatch just because it's too light for me. Good news is there are warmer shades so next time, I'll opt for those.

Kanebo Intense Crayon Rouge is a slim lipstick with an intense semi- matte finish, impressive pigmentation, and scent- free formula. Formula glides oh-so-easily, it's pillow- like on the lips, soothes dry areas, and deposits pigment evenly.

06 Stylish Bordeaux is a deep red shade with a hint of wine.

Now the star of the show, Kanebo Luster Cream Foundation, my most favorite among the trio!

Product comes in a squared off frosted glass jar with a spatula; it's chic and luxe, but never over-the-top. Formula features soothing Teatopia fragrance, Cover Focus Powder that provides high yet natural coverage, and Porcelain Skin Technique that achieves sophisticated porcelain skin. Dermatologically- tested. It comes in 8 shades.

The shade I have is Ochre E. It is a medium warm beige with a neutral undertone. It's a wee bit lighter than my skin tone, but can be easily adjusted. I'm surprised and pleased to know that Kanebo has tried to touch the warm skin tone market in this foundation range.

First, here's Intense Crayon Lipstick. Stylish Bordeaux is a lovely deep red shade and I love how it sculpts the lips and makes it appear fuller. They say Japanese beauty brands don't offer pigmented lipsticks. I say, check Kanebo!

As for staying power, it has to be retouched after a meal because it's a classic lipstick with no waterproof, long- lasting properties. I appreciate the formula because it's a refreshing break from all the waterproof lipsticks that almost all brands offer nowadays.

Moving onto the foundation:

Bare skin

With one layer of the foundation

It has a fresh, gel- like texture that's breathable and spreads easily across the skin. It does not feel heavy, pasty, nor creamy at all, unlike most cream foundations (yes, even some high end ones); in fact, it feels like a soft moisturizer and that's one thing I love about it; I wonder how they're able to keep it lightweight despite the fact that it's cream foundation, but I guess the only explanation would be MAGIC!

One layer significantly evens out the skin tone and conceals discolorations; I don't use corrector and sometimes, concealer, anymore whenever I'm using this product because pigment concentration is so good. Finish is dewy and coverage is medium to full.

TBJ TIP: This foundation is best applied with a small domed kabuki or small flat top kabuki brush.

Can you tell that I'm wearing full coverage, cream foundation! No sir! Never seen a cream foundation that has yielded a finish this SOFT- LOOKING and LUMINOUS!

Compared to another lightweight cream foundation, Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Cream Stick Foundation, Kanebo Luster Cream Foundation has a more luminous finish while MUFE has a semi- matte finish.

As for staying power, I am surprised to know that it can hold up for about 5 hours of wear before you see a bit of fading. No excessive oiliness experienced with this product. With its feel, texture, and wear time, I can say that it can suit all skin tones!

I can't believe I'll say this, but people know that I won't spend more than P3k for foundation, but Kanebo Luster Cream Foundation is one expensive foundation that I will surely repurchase because I really love the finish and most especially, the feel. If you have money to spend, I highly recommend this foundation!
