THE VERDICT:

I think this may be the most expensive brush set I have ever owned and what makes me proud is this is from a Filipino brand! As you may know, I've been quite into Macynn Cosmetics lately and this is one of my favorites from their line, Macynn Dream Set Premium Makeup Brush Set; the powder brushes in this set allow me to layer on different sorts of powder and yet still achieve an airbrushed finish!

Macynn Dream Set Makeup Brush Set features 13 brushes for the face and eyes.

The set is packaged like a gift; it comes in a matte, hard box wrapped with tissue paper and a card detailing the types of brushes in the box and their uses; the whole thing feels like a luxurious gift.

These are the brushes; carefully housed in their cutout spaces to maintain the shape.

These are the brushes included in the kit, from left to right:

1. Foundation Brush
2. Blush Brush
3. Powder Brush
4. Bronzer Brush
5. Highlighter Brush
6. Concealer Brush
7. Eyeshadow Blending Brush
8. Eyeshadow Brush
9. Eyeshadow Detail Brush
10. Brow Brush
11. Brow Bone Brush
12. Lip Brush
13-14. Eyeliner and Spoolie Brush

The set doesn't feel like standard retail brush sets that contain the usual face brushes and bajillion of eye shader brushes; this one feels like it's the founder's favorite brushes or the ones she swear by. I just wish thought that the package came with a brush bag or brush roll because the box is so huge and hard to store; I don't know anyone who will keep the bulky box as storage for the brushes alone.

The brushes are 100% synthetic and 100% cruelty- free; good news for those who want to use or are transitioning to kinder cosmetics. The handles are lightweight, made of wood, and painted in a glossy taupe gray shade; ferrule is rose gold metal.

I'd like to point out that the bristles are AMAZINGLY SOFT! No kidding, I haven't used something that's this SOFT. It's so nice and fluffy that I'm sometimes taking my time rubbing the bristles on my face whenever I'm doing makeup haha! But super soft bristles can be wonky, flimsy, ergo ineffective, but with Macynn's brushes, it's counteracted by density; each brush is packed with high quality bristles so even if it's very soft, it still performs.

Since the brushes are thick, especially the face brushes, they naturally give a softer, airbrushed look. the eye brushes have decent thickness, something I've seen with other brush brands too.

The face brushes, to me, are the heroes in this set. I'm the type who loves layering on different sorts of powder on my face, but sometimes, I need to because it's either the shade of my foundation is too light or I have some color adjustments to do; that results to caky coverage sometimes and whenever I have to layer on powder, I turn to the face brushes of Macynn. The bristles pick up powder gradually and the density of the bristles help soften the intensity of pigmented powders; the brushes are great for bronzing, all over highlighting, for the glass skin makeup technique, and when layering on powder, as I've mentioned. Oh, no shedding too!

Aside from the face brushes, I love the Brow Bone brush because it truly serves its purpose and eyeshadow detail brush for spot highlighting on my eyes. The brushes don't dry up very easily though, which is common with synthetic brushes. There are also some brushes that I don't like which are the eyeliner brush (too slim) and eyeshadow blending brush (too domed and useful only for smoky eye makeup, but not gradation makeup).

This set costs a hefty premium, but the quality of the bristles are superb; they're perfect for people with sensitive and hypersensitive skin as well because the bristles are mighty soft and not made from animal material. This set made me realize too that not only makeup can have that 'airbrush' property, but also brushes too!
