Here's a review on MAC Matte Lipstick in Russian Red

THE VERDICT:
I keep on saying in a couple of my posts that MAC's Russian Red is my HG red lipstick, but I can't believe I haven't reviewed it yet! Ack! I thought I reviewed it already way back in 2009, but I realized, I just featured an FOTD with it! :p
The first time I owned this lipstick was way back in 2004, and MAC's lipsticks still came in cylindrical tubes. Vintage, huh? I remember, my math teacher confiscated it from me because she saw me putting it on while in class and the next thing I know, she's already wearing it-she didn't return it to me anymore! Bad teacher! :p

MAC RUSSIAN RED IN DETAIL
The reason why I love this lipstick so much is because of its chameleon personality: It can look young if worn with fresh, clean makeup, and can look sultry and more grown- up if worn with slightly smokey eyes and contoured cheeks. Love it!
MAC RUSSIAN RED IN ACTION
MAC's Russian Red is a blue- based red, and is considered as one of the universally- flattering reds of all time. It's a magic freshening wand on a stressed or haggard day because its overall tone just makes your face glow. :)

If compared to my second favorite red, Ruby Woo, Russian Red is lighter and brighter, whereas Ruby Woo has a deeper, more sultry tone. I've also noticed that under natural lighting, Russian Red is a truer kind of red, while Ruby Woo has a teeny weeny hint of orange, just like Rubies. Also, Ruby Woo's texture is more drying than Russian Red.
When I feel like looking pretty, I go for Russian Red. If I'm feeling more romantic and sexy, (Usually, this feeling hits me when I'm with the BF haha!) I go for Ruby Woo.
TIP: Revlon's Really Red is a good dupe for this lipstick shade.
