THE VERDICT:
Spotlight’s new eye collection is definitely perfect for Filipina eyes! I’ve always looked for very fine and angled eyeliners and mascara wands that will suit our naturally almond- shaped eyes, but to no avail and thankfully, Spotlight took on the challenge!
This new eye trio: Faux Lashes Mascara, 3D Mascara, Mascara Remover, and Arch Eyeliner will make your everyday routine not only easier, but much more precise as well!
Spotlight Cosmetics Faux Lashes Mascara volumizes and promises all day wear and infused with Castor Oil to nourish lash strands and help promote lash growth.
Spotlight Cosmetics Mascara Remover is a mascara and even eyeliner remover with a slim wand that provides precision removal of eye makeup; the formula effectively melts away eye makeup while Jojoba oil and Vitamin E nourish the skin and lashes.
Spotlight Cosmetics 3D Mascara features a unique grooved metal wand that effectively separates and volumizes the lashes for a styled look.
Spotlight Cosmetics Arch Eyeliner is a first in local makeup; it has a fine, slanted tip that allows the creation of precise winged eye liner looks. It only comes in one shade, black.
One of my most favorite items in the collection is the eyeliner because it’s small enough to fit the tight corners of Filipina eyes and the slanted tip gives a perfect winged line every time. This is perfect for you if you find it hard to create even winged lines. All you have to do is point the eyeliner tip towards the tip of your outer upper lash line and draw a line outwards. I am amazed at how the eyeliner creates a perfect winged line every time! Such a time saver and beginner- friendly eyeliner!
One caveat is since the tip is too small, you will take time shading your entire lid. If I’m in a hurry, I just use Arch Eyeliner to create the perfect line and grab an eyeliner with a bigger brush to line the rest of my upper lash line.
Staying power is good, but it’s not waterproof.
My next favorite is the 3D mascara. My, the metal wand is so good! It’s really great at coating the lashes individually. The problem sometimes with the traditional brush wand is it contributes to clumping and it’s not great for sparse lashes that some Filipinas have (me!). The grooved metal wand grabs and deposits just the right amount of product, elongates the lashes naturally, and volumizes without the clump. The wand is so easy to clean and sanitize too! The mascara has good staying power; it doesn’t run and can be removed easily with eye makeup remover.
Spotlight Mascara Remover is an efficient way to remove eye makeup. It’s non- sting and I like that it softens my lashes after use, but I wish that it can remove much stronger formulas like Japanese mascara formulas faster.
Spotlight’s new eye makeup collection is pretty good. A bit on the high end side, but the concept and usability of the products are well thought out.
