There aren't a lot of eye makeup products out there that's perfect for contact lens wearers, so if you see one, you should keep it in the radar. (That is, if you wear contact lens everyday) I'm talking about The Balm's Schwing Black Liquid Eyeliner, one of their latest products that'll keep your eyes primped and ready for boyspotting haha!

The Balm said that Schwing is a quick- dry, matte, long- wearing liquid liner that' Paraben- Free, Cruelty- Free, and has a unique felt tip that allows precise application. It comes in one shade only.

Ingredients: water ((aqua) eau), alcohol denat., glycerin, pullulan, disodium coco-glucoside citrate, hectorite, xanthan gum, citric acid, sodium hydroxide, sodium dehydroacetate, iron oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), ferric ammonium ferrocyanide (CI 77510).

Here's the applicator. I find the tip thinner compared to most felt-tip liners I have. If you want to achieve a thin line, run the applicator on top of your lids gently and lightly, and press it down (but gently as well) to get a thicker line. I just find the distance between the handle and applicator a bit too long and this means I don't have better control over the latter.

More about this product after the break.

Here are swatches of the product in varying intensities. Indeed, this product dries up pretty fast and formulation's pretty gentle and I never experienced any stinging sensation upon application. Packaging's very quirky and so slim that you can pop it right in your pocket.

One layer of Schwing Black Liquid Eyeliner

Pigmentation is heavy and it yields full coverage in one go. I also noticed that it applies very evenly, with no gaps during application. I love the vintage-y, suede finish of this one.

Staying power is pretty good on cool days, but transfers on my upper lids for a little on warm days and when my lids begin to oil up. Wear time is okay, but 'tis not waterproof and sebum- proof though. I guess aside from contact lens wearers, this will work better on those with normal skin. On oily skin, use with primer or lightly dust translucent powder on top to inhibit smudging.

7 Lovely Thoughts

  1. I use black eyeliners all the time, but I haven't used one as matte as this one. Ohh no I have oily lids as well, but I'm still willing to give this one a try as the matte finish looks really good on you Ms. M!

  2. I love how it's so matte. I hate it when my eyeliner reflects light. I think I have found the perfect eyeliner for me.

  3. Is it easy to remove??? I don't like liquid eyeliners because I find it hard to use..the one that I'm using before, I have to dry it before I open my eyes..good thing this is easy to dry and pigmented that..but I don't like if it transfer to the upper lid.. :(((

  4. wow, this is very matte and very pigmented.... i like the finish of this one....

  5. love the matte look! i have monolids plus they're oily... i really have a tough time looking for the perfect eyeliner... this looks very very promising...

  6. I'm still learning the ropes with non-pencil eyeliners. Maybe it's because I haven't yet mastered using gel liners, but my preference for now goes to liquid liner since I think it dries and sets faster than gel. I'm impatient like that. Yun lang nga, I feel like liquid tends to budge more by midday. (Or is it because I have odd eyelid folds? Haha.)

Love how velvety Schwing looks. Sheen or shimmer makes me think of punk, so the nice matte this produces is more 50's glam that's totally in-line with their vintage-themed packaging. :)

  7. Matromao: 50's glam is the right word! I really like the super matte finish of this liner, that's why I'm keeping it!

Cat: Hope you can try it soon!

Nix: Then this is something you should try!

    Issa: Same! :D

RM: Yes it is. :) Just wipe it off with an eye makeup remover and you're done! :)

    Kat: Thanks dear! :D
