 THE VERDICT:

Whoops, went a bit overboard on holiday feasts this December and it's showing a bit on my cheeks. But hey, I enjoyed every single moment and morsel! Now time to get serious and to shred holiday weight this coming January. In the meantime, I'll be needing some help from contouring powders to give my cheeks that slimming effect.

What I've been using lately is Pixi Natural Contour Powder Shape and Shadow, one of the nicest matte contouring powders out there; what makes this product a standout is it works on any skin tone and mimics the natural contour on the face.

PIXI NATURAL CONTOUR POWDER SHAPE AND SHADOW IN DETAIL

A matte contouring powder that claims to come in a perfect neutral contour hue. Contains skin- caring and awakening Aloe Vera extract, multi- vitamin complex, super fruits, coffee, and peptides. Paraben- Free, hypoallergenic, not tested on animals. It comes in one shade only, Shape and Shadow.

Ingredients

Product comes in a solid acrylic pan with a magnetic closure; it feels quite pricey and the vintage Green color brings me back to the time when I started playing with makeup.

This contouring powder has a soft texture with a soft matte finish; pigmentation is medium to heavy; I can see why Pixi claimed that this is a 'perfect neutral contour hue' because it's a neutral brown with a balanced mix of pink and taupe; Taupe helps it adjust to various skin tones and maintains the neutrality of the shade while Pink prevents the shade from looking too ashy. Product is unscented.

PIXI NATURAL CONTOUR POWDER SHAPE AND SHADOW IN ACTION

One layer of Pixi Natural Contour Powder

This contouring powder perfectly mimics the shadows on my face and just looks neutral. I tried this product on some fair- skinned friends and almost everyone said that it looked natural on them and surprisingly, not orange or copper, a shade problem that most fair- skinned women encounter with contouring powders.

One concern though is if you've got a heavy hand or you pile it on, it has a tendency to look very obvious and Pinkish on some skin tones so apply sparingly. Staying power is pretty good at 4 hours before it fades gradually. Another thing that I like doing with this product is I apply it all over my lids to give my eyes some depth.

I declare this as another favorite Pixi product of mine, next to the Endless Silky Eye Liners; it's a simple, versatile product with a well- chosen shade and I like how it adjusts to skin tones, therefore being true to its claim. If you're fair, medium, or warm- skinned and are looking for a contouring powder that's matte, natural- looking, charged with skin- loving ingredients, and won't look ashy nor orange/copper, try this!

  5. Absolute looks natural.Pixi contour powder shade must be really good one. I agree that it's hard to find a perfect shade that works well on any skin tone. I love contouring lately:) Before, I found contouring intimidating and it's probably I never thought I could do it. But now, after practicing, I think I got it down. Thanks for enabling and for all the reviews.

  6. It looks so natural nga. :) And if it is pigmented enough, magtatagal talaga siya to be used up. I also like that it can be used as an eyeshadow too. A bit pricey lang though for one color. :/ I have the city color contouring set, but I haven't used it ever since. Haha
