While we're too busy picking the right shade for summer and scouring every brand for the perfect sun- proof make- up, we might just be skipping the things that are equally important. So check if you have these essentials in your bag:
- Don't you sometimes wish that life is a commercial, where you can just pour a bottle of mineral water on your face just to beat the irritating heat? Well, you don't have to look soaking wet just to cool yourself up. I bring wet wipes just in case I need to freshen up my arms, nape, neck and even forehead. Sweat plus heat can lead to sun rashes, especially on the nape. And since it's so good to scratch, it'll leave nasty dark marks once healed. Damp a piece of wet wipes on your nape, neck, arms and forehead whenever you're feeling the harshness of the sun. It really works!

The Beauty Junkee's summer tip: Go for baby wipes. They're milder, and best of all, unscented. The alcohol in perfumed wet wipes can react to heat, thereby causing skin irritation.
2. FACIAL MIST
- Probably one of the best cosmetic inventions. A facial mist contains skin- quenching ingredients that moisturizes while nourishes skin. It's an instant wake- upper and freshener on hot and humid days!
The Beauty Junkee loves: Evian, Lush Tea Tree Water (around 365php)
The Beauty Junkee's summer tip: Water, with all its minerals, makes it an instant facial water. Buy an atomizer and fill it up with water. It's safer, practical, and ultimately, CHEAP!
3. SUNGLASSES
- What better way to protect your eyes from sun- related diseases and wrinkles is with the good ol' sunglasses. Squinting can lead to wrinkles around the eyes called "crow's feet", and harmful UVA and UVB rays can cause eye diseases such as Glaucoma. So better invest in a good pair of sunglasses.

The Beauty Junkee's summer tip: NEVER BUY CHEAP SUNGLASSES. They DO NOT protect your eyes from UVA and UVB rays-- AT ALL. Fake sunglasses are made of cheap plastic, while branded sunglasses are made of a special kind of plastic that blocks the sun's harmful rays. Cheap plastics, on the other hand, absorbs, traps, and reflects the light between the plastic and your retina. Check it out yourself. Buy a cheap pair of sunglasses and try staring at the sun. If you're squinting and can't stare directly at the sun though the frames are heavily tinted, then you'll probably figure out what I'm talking about.
4. OIL- ABSORBING SHEETS
- "Oiliness is next to ugliness", as what my best friends would always say. True enough, the last thing you wanna look like is an oil slick just in case a cutie passes by. Take it from me. Summer is quite tough on oily- skinned people, as heat induces oil production in the sebum. And layering too much powder can clog pores which can lead to acne. So to keep you looking matte and fresh, keep oil- absorbing sheets in handy. It's an instant touch- up sans the make- up.

The Beauty Junkee's summer tip: Right after rinsing your face clean, run an ice cube all over your it. It tightens pores, which helps in keeping oil at bay. Plus, the cooling effect somehow lasts all day, at least on me.

5. DRINKING WATER
- It is always best to cool from within. Always bring drinking water to keep you hydrated and refreshed.
The Beauty Junkee loves: Water bottles! Especially the ones from Sigg. For plastic bottles, I go for Rubbermaid.
The Beauty Junkee's summer tip: Bringing a drinking water container/bottle is earth- friendly
Before you splurge on the next shade of lipstick, make sure that these essentials are invariably available in your bag.
