"I wonder how, I wonder why, yesterday you told me 'bout the blue blue sky. And all that I could see, is just a yellow Mango Tree"
OH MY GOD I AM SO CORNY.
Anyway, I'm currently listening to my favorite band of all- time, The Beatles. And Lemon Tree is now playing. :D
Which brings me now to a review. No, not that of the Lemon Tree, but Mango Tree Bistro.
Hubby and I celebrated our 39th month of togetherness in this savvy new restaurant in Greenbelt 5. If I'm not mistaken, methinks that Mango Tree Bistro is an international restaurant. At first, I thought they're serving Singaporean dishes. But they actually serve Thai specialties.
Modern, hip, and trendy. It's a perfect venue for gatherings with family and friends and event launches. The place looks too dark during daytime, but it magically comes alive during nighttime.
Aherm. This is what I meant when I said HIP. You can browse their menu using an iPad! They also have the traditional book- style menu for conservatives. :D
But of course, the ultimate test is the food. Let's see if this place is really worth the try. :D
Thai Iced Tea ftw! Unlike most Thai Iced teas I've encountered, this one's different because it's not loaded with milk. It's poured half way through the glass, and the rest is iced tea. I think it's a good thing because you wouldn't stuff yourself with milk.
Thai fried spring rolls. Filled with pork meat, spring onions, and mushrooms. And the spicy/sour dip goes so well with it!
Chicken Satay. Hubby must invariably have Satay in his orders every time we eat in a Thai restaurant. I would like to commend the Chicken meat. It's not dry, unlike the other Chicken Satays I've tried. Trust me, I'm an expert on Chicken Satay because I'm having it at least twice to thrice per month 'cos of hubby and our fondness for Thai cuisine. :)
I totally forgot the name of this dish, but it's my favorite amongst all the dishes we've ordered. The meat is very tender and flavorful. You can eat it on its own sans the vinegar dip! If you want to try this in your Mango Tree visit, check out the Appetizers section. We saw it there. :D
Prawns for a change. I dislike eating Prawns and Shrimps because they're messy to eat, especially if they're stir- fried in sauces. Good thing, I'm great at the art of stripping Prawns and Shrimps with a spoon and fork. I was able to enjoy this nice dish without asking hubby to peel off the Prawn skins for me. :)
If you're a big eater, you'd probably want to eat some place else because the serving here is good enough for one person. If you want to order a couple of dishes, I suggest that you eat here with your friends and family. To make the most of the viands, I suggest you eat more rice. That way, you'll feel more satisfied without the "bitin" feeling you'll get just in case you are not able to eat a lot of whatever dish you prefer. Price is not bad. People's Palace is way expensive. But it's not a cheap place either. But for the great tasting meals you get, I must say Mango Tree is really worth the try! :)
