Beauty Bar presents Koh Gen Do cosmetics+An exclusive look at Koh Gen Do's products

Time to excite you guys once again!

Japan has always been known for excellence. From the manufacturing to the way they package their stuff, they always aim for the best. That's why "Made In Japan" has always been synonymous with great quality.

Japan is also home to some of the best global brands and never before seen or heard luxurious brands in the fashion and beauty industry. Koh Gen Do cosmetics is one of these. It has been a staple brand in Hollywood for years, and is one of the most favored brands by a lot of Asian actresses.

Your beloved The Beauty Junkee was invited to Koh Gen Do's launch at Mandarin Oriental, Makati City. It's a pretty exclusive event, and I'm honored to be chosen by SSI and Beauty Bar to take part in this launch.

Anyway, here's what happened in the event.

Megumi Setoguchi's introduction speech. Setoguchi is the sister of Koh Gen Do's founder and Senior Managing Director of the brand. An Esthetician by profession, Setoguchi continues to improve the brand by searching for the best ingredients that will help skin look its best. I've seen this lady up- close, and my god. Her skin looks immaculate!

Paris- based MUA Morimitsu Miyamoto is the head MUA for Koh Gen Do cosmetics. This guy has an impressive portfolio! He has numerous clients in Hollywood and Japan, and is one of the most- sought after MUAs in fashion shows. He was the lead make- up artist for Karl Lagerfeld, Dior, YSL, Nina Ricci, and more. When it comes to dewy, fresh, and runway- ready make- up, Miyamoto has always been the go- to guy of some of the biggest names in the fashion and beauty industry.

He did a 10- minute face using Koh Gen Do's most popular products: Moisture Concealer, Moisture Foundation, Aqua Illuminator Foundation, and Face Powder.

Miyamoto only did the first half of the model's face because he wanted to show us how Koh Gen Do will dramatically improve skin's texture, glow, and tone. He finished the other half in less than 3 minutes!

Miyamoto was kind enough to go around and squeezed some of the Moisture foundation on the hands of the guests. Unlike the other foundations I've tried, this one doesn't feel runny and watery. And it feels lightweight too.

FIRST STEP: Miyamoto applying Moisture Foundation.

After applying the product on the model, Miyamoto muses about the Moisture Foundation, his most favorite product from the brand. According to him, it's fool- proof, looks impeccable in print and t.v., and cures minor skin problems such as acne.

SECOND STEP: Miyamoto has set the foundation with the loose Face Powder. Indeed, the powder is very silky. Feels like it's packed with moisturizing ingredients. It doesn't leave white casts too! It comes in other colors too.

THIRD STEP: Miyamoto used the Moisture Concealer on top of KGD's Moisture Foundation and powder. Since the line is made up of pure mineral pigments, Miyamoto tells us that the products won't clash with one another. So that means you can layer KGD's makeups on top of each other during wear!

FOURTH STEP: Miyamoto applies the Aqua Illuminator Foundation on the model's nose line. The AIF has always been his favorite in creating nose lines on his models. He also loves using it on cheek bones, brow bones, and eyes for spot illumination.

Here's the swatch. It's a white foundation that goes on clear while illuminating, and covering marks, scars, and even varicose veins too!

Koh Gen Do will be released within the second and third week of November, and in select Beauty Bar outlets only.

Koh Gen Do's price is at par with some of the high- end Western cosmetic brands that we have come to love. But what separates Koh Gen Do from the rest? Koh Gen Do is a "pure" line, meaning they use the finest mineral pigments, fresh water extracts, and purest oils to create their products. They spend long, and grueling years to come up with a single product. Guided by the Japanese's principles and techinque in the art of perfection, each product is expertly and lovingly made to suit each and every skin type and concern. That's why they don't offer a lot of products. They may have a few, but you're guaranteed that they have the best.
