A Tradition of Prestigious Beauty: Royal Effem

Parma, Italy- the city of good taste in living and dining. It is a lush and modern countryside where sustainable industrial methods have been thriving for centuries. Parma is also home to one of the world's oldest universities, University of Parma.

But little did people know that apart from its rich culinary and cultural heritage, and Parmesan cheese and Parma Ham, the city of Parma is also known for its long tradition of beauty and aesthetics. It has been home to some of the pioneering beauty companies in Italy namely Betty Brand, Royal Perfume, and Laboratori Royal, which all started in 1947 after the Second World War with a mission to restore beauty and inspire renewal.

But even before these three pioneering brands came into existence, Maria Luigia of Hapsburg, Duchess of Parma, was believed to have introduced the 'Art of Beauty' in the city of Parma around the 1800's. Royal Effem writes:

This tradition of beauty care dates back to Maria Luigia of Hapsburg, the enlightened Regent of the Duchy of Parma, Piacenza and Guastalla, who in the early 1800’s introduced a practice that would be remembered as the “culture of personality”. This woman, with her good taste and love of “beauty”, was the original architect of beauty care; her meticulous attention to details and her appreciation of art would give rise to Parma’s reputation for finesse.

For a time, Laboratori Royal has been manufacturing cosmetics for some of the well- known and well- loved brands all over the world. It was only recently that LR decided to close their doors to manufacturing and start their own line. And Royal Effem was born.

Royal Effem is a prestigious line of cosmetics that combines acute awareness to trends and incessant research on the latest beauty and skin care science. Every RE cosmetic undergoes painstaking research, paying consideration to every detail. Guided by the Italian principles of sustainable manufacturing, Royal Effem makes sure that their manufacturing processes do not have a major impact on the environment . Royal Effem's products were also reduced chemically. Instead, these chemicals were replaced with natural extracts from plants that are equally powerful and effective as well.

I met with Mr. and Mrs. Amoranto last January to talk more about the brand. I do not want to write about something just by basing it on online catalogues and second- person reviews. I gave it a shot because Royal Effem is truly a promising brand.

Calling all high school gals! This one would be great for your Prom night: This is one of Royal Effem's most promising products, the Hydra Mineral Foundation, a foundation that's formulated to suit young skin.

I was in makeup heaven when Sarah laid out these babies! I had my eyes fixed on some stuff. Just waiting for my cheques to enter my bank account! LOL!

Here's what I went home with courtesy of Sarah and JR Amoranto: Vitality's Hair care samples (which are very nice, btw), Royal Effem Extreme Mat Foundation and Single Eyeshadow. Not in the pic is Royal Effem's Glamour Effem lipstick in 173, Stick Concealer in 2, and Eye Kohl in Purple.

I've tried my Royal Effem products for almost a month, and they're very good indeed. For product orders and more updates about the brand, please like ROYAL EFFEM'S FACEBOOK FAN PAGE. Also, stay tuned for my Royal Effem reviews by liking THE BEAUTY JUNKEE AT FACEBOOK!

In the meantime, have a look at their catalogue. This one's pretty dated though. This will just give you an idea of what to expect from the brand. :)
