THE VERDICT:
One of my most preferred brand for professional makeup, Ben Nye, has just released their newly- improved HD Foundation line, Media PRO.
When HD foundations came out, they promised flawless skin and undetectable coverage but unfortunately, it was only true when it's used on T.V. and Film. Makeup brands have recently improved the texture and consistency of HD makeups because Film and T.V. technology is getting better and better, and its gaining huge attention, especially from makeup junkies.
Media Pro comes in a slim and lightweight compact that you can bring anywhere. However, the cover is not sturdy. The cover is made of non- sturdy plastic. During my first use, one of the screws broke off, and the plastic tube-ish part that holds the cover to the compact fell off. I can't bring it with me anymore because the cover keeps on sliding from the compact. :(
Brule seemed like my skin match on the pan, but it turned surprisingly light when I've already swatched it Methinks it will fit girls with NC35-NC40 shade matches. But I find it forgivable because it can be remedied by applying a shade- matching loose/pressed powder.
Ben Nye has a ginormous range of shades that will fit almost all skin tones, and finding the right shade for you could be hard, unless your knowledgeable about the brand. Best thing to do is to ask the store where you're going to buy Ben Nye from to help you find the right shade. And that's what I like about The Style Quarter. I really had no idea what shade to get, so I asked Ritchelle, one of the owners of The Style Quarter to find me a good match from the Media Pro line. I just gave her my shade match, which is MAC's NC42, and they were able to find me a close match. Awesome service, ain't it? :)
Anyway, texture- wise, it is indeed very light, and coverage can be light to full. I'm usually good with around two layers because I don't really need a lot of coverage. It yields a dewy, semi- matte finish that dries up quickly too. Its pigmentation is so good, that sometimes, I don't need concealer to hide zits and post- acne marks whenever I'm using this one! :)
Bare skin with just concealer on
With two layers of Ben Nye's Media PRO HD Foundation
How I apply it: I sometimes use my fingers if I just want a sheer finish. I also use Sigma's F80 Flat Top Kabuki brush if I need heavier coverage.
Notice that it has evened out my skin tone, and it also covered those small skin bumps. I set it lightly with any of my shade- matching powders and I'm good to go! I love the fact that the foundation lets my skin project through those layers, and it prevents me from looking too made up and fake. Staying power is pretty great. It's great for humid weather conditions, but be sure to apply sheer layers. Too much foundation+scorching hot weather= clogged pores
I recommend it to make- up artist, people who need heavy yet natural- looking coverage, and of course, those who work in T.V. and Film. The pan is huge and it will really last you long. Please visit STYLE QUARTER ON FACEBOOK and check out their complete Ben Nye listing. :)

You always have such nice skin!
ReplyDeletewaiting for the price. hahaha! bet it's expensive... xP
ReplyDeleteoh so lucky.. :))
ReplyDeleteI have their concealer wheel and I love it to bits. Never failed me. A little creasing though. And bit oily (what can you expect from our scorching hot and humid climate), but not a tweaking can do. :)
ReplyDeleteThing is, it's stage make-up and it's kind of scary to use this every day. But it is worth it, noh? :)
Have you tried James Cooper's cream foundation?
So sad naman to hear na the cover is not sturdy. Usually yung mga ganyang klase ng covers, madali po talagang masira yung screws lalo na pag mejo nabump sila. Pero the coverage is great!Suits your morena skin din.Oo nga, it looks natural kahit heavy yung coverage nya.
ReplyDeletewith the nice review you had, i really dont wanna know the price. hehe.
ReplyDeleteJust an update, the Media Pro HD Sheer Foundation is now available for pre-order. The price is 1,475. :)

So ur shade is same as me, im nc42. What shade should i get?
ReplyDeleteHi! I Hope you answer this comment I don't know if you still read your questions from people- I'm also NC42 in Mac- What shade is the Ben Nye makeup that you show here?
ReplyDeleteHi Anonymous and Tiffany: Just saw your comments now. I go through tons of blog comments every single day, and I apologize if I have missed some, including yours. If you have personal queries that can't wait, you can just send them straight to my email so I could respond quickly as I always check my email wherever I am.
ReplyDeleteRegarding your queries, I'm sorry, but I can't tell because Ben Nye has so many shades, and Style Quarter did the choosing for me. The best answer I could give is that this particular shade is the closest to NC42, although a tad lighter. I also tried looking it up on Temptalia's Foundation Matrix, but to no avail.
Please just visit Style Quarter on multiply and facebook if you're interested in this product. I have provided the link in this post. Thank you!
Let me know what you think of this post! :)
