THE VERDICT:
Bobbi's Shimmer Brick is a perennial favorite of mine. No kidding, it's the only powder highlighter I trust because it has never failed to make me look naturally luminescent and has never ever made me look oddly glowing in photos. Now it comes in an eyeshadow version and this got me a lil' excited!
BOBBI BROWN SEQUIN SHIMMER BRICK EYE PALETTE IN DETAIL
This palette combines 10 frosted and metallic shades of pink, neutrals, rose, gray, and blue. It only comes in one color combination and is a limited edition item of Bobbi Brown's Holiday 2013 collection.
When we think of 10 eyeshadow shades in a palette, we immediately assume that packaging's ginormous, but this product breaks that notion. I don't know how they did it, but they were able to squeeze everything in a palette that fits my palm!

BOBBI BROWN SEQUIN SHIMMER BRICK EYE PALETTE IN ACTION
It has the same smooth, blendable texture and light to medium pigmentation of the original Shimmer Brick. As much as I love Shimmer Brick for my complexion, I just found this palette too sheer and too cool for my morena skin. I use it mainly as a highlighter for my lids or on top of my more pigmented eyeshadows to give 'em an ounce of shimmer-it works better as a topper because it's sheer and won't alter the other eyeshadow shades. Well the colors would actually show up vibrantly on me, but only if I layer each color for about three times-now that's a lot!
On a positive note, this is something that will still come out decent on your lids even if you apply it skillfully or not. Quite eyeshadow newbie- friendly, I say.
This product didn't work on me, but methinks it will suit those with alabaster to fair complexions since shades are all on the cool side. The Shimmer Brick concept for eyes is innovative and I appreciate that Bobbi tried to come up with shimmer eyeshadows that will make eyes glow naturally, but I wish it would be a lil' more pigmented next time. If you have medium, tan, or dark skin tone, you're better off with the Smokey Warm Eye Palette from Bobbi's Holiday Collection for 2013.

I agree..I prefer the Smoky Warm palette over this and it is one among my wishlist for 2014.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't want to be greedy since I won't be using it yet and I still have to finish some of my current palettes so I don't have to worry about the expiration.
So it will be sched next year ...unless someone gives it to me early :D
Aura: I think they're working on more southern branches. :)
ReplyDeleteWinnie: Yeah, eyeshadows are quite hard to finish that's why I rarely buy eyeshadows. :P
Leilani: But Bobbi is worth it. :) Glad you liked it dear :)
Rhain: Practice indeed is what you need. :) Once you get the hang of it, you'll love wearing shimmery/frost eyeshadows because they make skin glow. :)
Let me know what you think of this post! :)
