THE VERDICT:

I believe I saw egg- shaped beauty products first at Tony Moly; they're so cute and look more like food than makeup to me. I remember I bought their egg- shaped soaps before, put it in the bathroom, and then mom asked why the heck would I leave eggs in the bathroom. I laughed hard before revealing to her that they were soap, not eggs! Now you know, guys, if you're gonna buy these egg- shaped cosmetics, put a label that says NON-EDIBLE on them!

So I have here Tony Moly Eggpore Silky Smooth Balm, a primer made with Egg whites; it's a cool primer with skin- caring benefits and it provides a smooth base for makeup while moisturizing the skin at the same time!

TONY MOLY EGGPORE SILKY SMOOTH BALM IN DETAIL

This balm primer promises to smooth out wrinkles, hide enlarged pores and even scars, and helps manage sebum with Selemin AN ingredient. Camellia flower extract and Skin Growth Complex helps manage sebum and dead skin cells, has skin- tightening benefits, and promises to improve skin elasticity.

Ingredients

Tony Moly's Egg Pore range is targeted towards oily skin with matching enlarged pores and utilizes Egg extract because it is a known skin- tightening ingredient; I actually like how true this range is when it comes to addressing oily skin and pore problems as it features essential beauty products targeted to these concerns such as a pore tightening soap, face mask, nose strip, and primer.

Like the rest of Tony Moly's egg- shaped products, this one comes in a super cute screw top packaging too; you can even recycle this one for Easter Egg Hunting; it can be the Golden Egg that contains the grand prize! :) The packaging is very bulky and quite hard to store though.

The product is like a large mochi ball sitting in a pot; I must admit, I was a disappointed at first when I saw that the product only occupied 60% of the pot, but when I tried it, dang, a dollop can cover a great part of my face! This thing could probably last me for one and a half to two years!

The primer has a matte, balmy texture: it feels like silicone, but is somewhat softer, a bit creamier, and not heavy unlike its traditional counterparts (silicone primers in tubes and pots); perhaps it's due to the natural oil extracts in it that give the formula some slip, therefore I believe this is a primer that dry- skinned people may find comfortable to wear.

TONY MOLY EGG PORE SMOOTH BALM IN ACTION

Left: Bare skin; Right: One layer of the primer

The primer has good smoothing properties and even banishes oil as well as manage it for a good 3 hours; it also provides a smooth base for foundation and has an uplifting citrus scent. One thing that I like about this primer is it has a slight moisturizing effect that I can do away with moisturizer when I'm using it. Primer and moisturizer can cancel each other out depending on their respective formulas so most of the time, I have to wait for one to set in completely before applying the other and that takes up a lot of time; this one saves me a few minutes!

Does it tighten skin or make skin feel tight? Neither. It makes skin feel nice and matte yet comfortable; I did not experience or have observed the skin- tightening effect from it, but it's okay since I wasn't primarily expecting that from this product. I used this primer consistently for a time and I don't recall me breaking out form it or me developing more whiteheads and blackheads than the usual because of it; my skin loved the formula and the formula seems great.

Tony Moly Eggpore Smooth Balm delivered as a primer and I like its additional, very-much-appreciated moisturizing property; best for normal, oily, and dry skin, and for anyone who wants to cut their makeup routine short.

  7. Cute packaging! I just don't know where to store it though if ever I'll get one, it's too bulky and the shape is not you regular squares and circles common to makeup.
Anyhoo, I'm also excited how it would work on me, I'm not hiyang to silicone (I get more oilier!) so I wish this is a great alternative.

  10. At first I thought it was a face cream. Never thought it was a primer. Now I wanted to try it too. Though I'm combi skin so I'm not sure how it will turn out. I so love the packaging! Kahit di ko magamit yung balm itself, I would keep and use the packaging.
