THE VERDICT:

Do you wear unisex fragrances? I do, but on certain occasions only because 1.) I rarely find a unisex fragrance I like. 2.) I'm conservative and I believe women smell better in feminine fragrances. The last unisex fragrance I liked was CK One; finally, after years, a new one caught my nose and now I'm head over heels in love with this boy: Atkinsons 24 Old Bond Street; it's a gorgeous, unique, luxurious unisex fragrance, one that lets you live, have fun, and strut...the British way!

ATKINSONS 24 OLD BOND STREET IN DETAIL

Atkinsons is a 200-year old British maker of fine fragrances and has crafted scents for nobles, icons, and celebrities in the West. Atkinsons champions the Great British spirit of the brand by maintaining its iconic perfumes until today and using notes and elements that define British style and culture; at the moment, Atkinsons Philippines is carrying 5 fragrance variants.

Can we call this 'Hermès for perfumes'? I just said that because of the glaringly Orange box, haha! But seriously, this is a luxury perfume brand and ranks up there with Bond No.9 and Creed to name a few; ala-Hermès indeed!

Just a quick trivia, this fragrance was named after the namesake street where founder James Atkinson had his perfume headquarters, as granted by King George the IV in the 1800's after the royalty fell in love with his invention, the English Cologne (James Atkinson invented this cologne!); 24 Old Bond Street was considered as fashionable street as well as it was brimming with lifestyle boutiques.

ATKINSONS 24 OLD BOND STREET IN DETAIL

The concoction of each Atkinsons fragrance is simple and straightforward, making them much easier to remember and as instant staples. 24 Old Bond Street is a simple yet elegant combination of Juniper, Rose, Black Tea, Spices, Woods, and Oak- Casked Whiskey; it's actually marketed as a For Men scent in other countries, but here, it's unisex; I could understand why because of its androgynous appeal; in fact, I liked it very much the first time I smelled it: I thought there's nothing quite like this fragrance; the Whiskey touch made a unique difference: it's bold, tough, and commanding; Black Tea interlaces in the fragrance trail, giving it a soft, soothing appeal. Sillage is a bit strong, but it lasts decently at 3 hours before I retouch; appreciate that it says that it's cologne as it manages my expectations. Actually, 3 hours is pretty long for a cologne!

As I said, I'm not a fan of unisex fragrances, but I'll make an exception for this one; it's one of those perfumes that smell really good and different; I imagine a gender-bending woman with a taste for minimalist fashion falling in love with this fragrance, or a woman who's not afraid to get in touch with her strong side (that would be me :D). My guy friends love this scent too! I'd love to repurchase this fragrance; just gotta save up for it because ya know, it costs a hefty premium!

  1. omg this stuff is so expensive. I've tried perfume that is along the same price point as this, and it stayed on FOREVER - through sweat and heat and traffic and more sweat. They're really worth the price. Just can't afford it right now. hehe

    1. Also, for a cologne, this one lasts just as long as an edp, but without the heavy scent!

  2. In my case I prefer wearing a unisex perfume,I do not like the super sweet or fruity scent that much. Parang mabilis akong magsawa kapag ganun. Thanks for sharing! I will recommend this to hubby when he ask me what perfume I would love to have hehe

  4. I haven't tried unisex perfume ever. I prefer the floral and sweet scent of perfumes. But this brand, I wanted to try, if only it was cheaper LOL.

  5. I like the idea of British and French perfumers having more presence here. There's something romantic about them, especially the companies that have been in operation for so long. Penhaligon's is another one of those brands. The scents are well-blended, yet uncomplicated.

    1. Oh yeah, I like how British and French scents would always have that tinge of audacious notes in them (leather, whiskey, oak); they really give perfumes a character.

  9. I actually love unisex fragrances over sweet sweet or floral ones because I think it smells more "fresh" (don't know any other way to describe it). And OMG that price is so heavy but fragrances with a huge price tag are also long-lasting :)
