Better Basics: Basic, but better

Getting older means getting wiser with clothing choices; by that, I meant sticking to basics. I've grown past the days when I want trendy clothes and shopping for new clothing every week; I've come to realize that not only this habit is wasteful, it contributes to another severe waste problem that the world is dealing with called textile waste. Also, I've better things to do with my money!

So now, I stick to basics: it's practical, versatile, economical, and no- brainer; I can allot more time to other things other than fussing about what I will wear. Since basics are necessary pieces of clothing, they're most of the time expensive, especially if you're looking for something with good quality. With that, let me share my new, great find called Better Basics - it's your average basics brand that's affordable.

Better Basics is a local brand of clothing. It's a brainchild of my friend, Moha; what started as a humble business is now steadily becoming a go- to brand for anything basic locally online!

What have you got in mind? A flowy dress? Off- shoulder tops? A laid- back sleeveless top? Structured tees? A dress you can slip into and pair with a blazer, and you're out the door? Better Basics got your back; all the basic pieces with stylish cuts, I seem to find in this brand.

Check out some of my picks:

Flow is a semi- sheer maxi dress with a sexy back cut.

Dolly is a sheer off- shoulder with ribbon 3/4 sleeve.

Olivia is your good ol' plain shirt with a bit of structure; the special fabric makes it more than the plain shirt!

Sylvia is my favorite Better Basic piece because it's sexy, plain yet can be spruced up easily with a blazer or dressy cover- up! Such a versatile piece!

Best of all, these pieces are so light and perfect for traveling!

Soft denim off shoulder live at Palm Cove Beach, Australia.

Out on an event with Sylvia Slip Dress.

Date Night with Carter sleeveless top.

Better Basics is my favorite lately that I'm thinking of hoarding more, especially all the colors of Carter, Flowy, and Sylvia!

You can find more pieces over and order at BETTER BASICS on Facebook.

  2. This is my thoughts as well. I want almost all of my clothes to be versatile as I mix and match them and I don't go with the trend, I go with what I want and what I am comfortable with.

  3. Pretty clothes. Not sure lang if flowy ones would fit me as I'm petite. But I love basic pieces too, especially when I'm so lazy to mix and match clothes. :)

  10. I don't really go in with what's "USO", I stick to my style... I also love basic pieces, mostly black, white, grey and cream colors... I seldom wore printed types! I guess it's always safe to wear basics :)

  12. When I read "Overdressed: The Shockingly High Cost of Cheap Fashion", I realized how wasteful we can be. Even Goodwill can't accommodate all the clothes people discard. So instead of buying fast fashion, we should aim to save up for basic, high quality pieces. Also, the book inspired me to shop more frequently in thrift stores, hehe!

  15. Agree! We have the same situation too miss Martha, back then i was always about what's the latest and trend today. Buy here, buy there. But after the trend, wala na. Hindi na siya magagamit and the ending? Mabubulok na siya inside the closet. Haha! Now im into basic pieces too! Very much versatile kasi, you can pair it and mix and match to other pieces pero hindi halatang umuulit ulit hehe. Plus i think mas madali siya istyle (esp kapag nagmamadali or tinatamad lang haha) and ibagay in any body type! My favorite basic pieces are my off shoulder tops and ofcourse the classic LBD! :)

  16. Recently, I've changed my taste of wardrobe and sell some og my clothes. I don't know why, but I prefer more the basics now rather than those neon, printed and bold colors clothes. Tho I'm not saying na hindi sila cute, but wearing basics are more versatile and never go out of style💗 I'm currently in love with the pastel and monochromatic colors, super duper cute nila tingnan and classy as well. Bongga nung Sylvia dress ms. m, looks like the one in Zara, but half the price! Will definitely check and shop at better basics, thank you for introducing this brand to us. Eeepppp, sakto pang OOTD sa Christmas! Hehe. BTW, do they have a physical store po?
