THE VERDICT:
More and more people are discovering the wonders of exfoliation through acids and peels. While you're at it, you might want to look into Enzymes.
What are Enzymes? Enzymes are proteins that help break down Keratin that keeps dead skin cells stuck. Enzymes can be plant, animal, or fruit derived; Enzymes in skin care are usually derived from fruits namely Pineapple, Papaya, and Blueberry to name a few.
What Enzymes do is they break down or 'eat way' the Keratin so the dead skin cells can be removed quickly with minor exfoliation and abrasion. Unlike acids that can be a bit harsh and physical exfoliators, abrasive, Enzymes are gentle enough for sensitive skin because it doesn't touch the fresh, new skin as much as other exfoliators do.
It's my first time to try Enzymes through Pixi Peel and Polish and I'm in love! I'm going to muse about my results in a few!
Ingredients
Pixi Peel and Polish Resurfacing Concentrate has 6% Lactic Acid and Papain extract that help resurface skin.
The product is a light cream with a cucumber scent; it has micro exfoliators as well that help facilitate faster exfoliation. However, it is not meant to be used as a regular facial scrub despite the presence of scrubbers; it's just there to loosen up dead skin cells more.
To use, apply a sheer layer all over the face and leave it on for 2 minutes. A few seconds after application, my face begins to tingle, but it isn't uncomfortable. I leave it on a bit longer, depending on how I feel, but usually no more than 5 minutes. I am guessing that the tingling sensation is also caused by Lactic Acid, but I've read that the Enzymes are known to yield a tingling, "eating" sensation so I think the effect is due to the latter.
Afterwards, my face feels so, so smooth, looks brighter, cleaner, and no redness whatsoever; my skin doesn't even feel tender nor look red after usage plus my skin care products absorbed better. I also like how I can move freely while waiting for the enzymes to do the work plus no need to manually scrub my skin and risk myself to getting micro abrasions!
Enzymes are a wonderful discovery for me and I recommend that you try it; it's gentle, easy, and effective. But even if I said that Enzymes are good for sensitive skin, not all skins react the same to any product so please, conduct a patch test always before trying out a new product, most especially chemical exfoliants.
Anyway, I love this scrub!

It's my first time knowing about enzymes! Whoa!? This is so cool! I never knew about this until now. This is very helpful. The product is a bit pricey. But I guess for the quality, it's an investment. Thanks for sharing this, Ms. Martha!

ReplyDeleteI hope this will have a dupe or what, I tried the Pixi Glow Tonic and I love it but it's so pricey. Then akala ko ok na gamitin ung ibang products niya. I tried the cleanser, kaso wala ngkaka pimple ako, sayang huhuhu. I ended up giving it away to my brother.
ReplyDeleteThis is great one, never knew about the enzymes were pretty good on the skin, most exfo prodcts I knew were physical and chemical. This look good on the skin no wonder Ms. Martha love na love nio xa, sna mern conterpart xa n mdyo mura para matry ko din, mdyo heavy s bulsa.
ReplyDeleteI love peeling products..it's really what i need sa face skin ko...effective sakin mga peelings eh hehe pero d ko pa yan natry..it's great so far reading your review about it madam.
ReplyDeleteWhenever I have money to splurge, I make it a point to invest into skin care instead of make up. Skincare for me is a long term form of self-care, and with it you can find yourself looking healthier and more radiant over time. So products like this, despite their price point, will become a staple especially if I found them effective for me.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your views on this product!
Now it explains why I feel like there is crawling anta on my palm after I peel unripe papaya for tinola.
ReplyDeleteThis product is interesting but too steep on the price. I hope they will have it on sale! I will definitely get one for myself. Thankie for the review!!! :)
