THE VERDICT:
Are you familiar with The Body Shop's best- selling Drops of Youth aging skin range? It's now been renamed into Edelweiss Skin Care. I finally found time to sit down, assess my skin, and determine which skin care products to try (I have a lot!) and this one is first on the list. Btw, I miss doing reviews! 2022 was just heck busy and tiring for me, but I'm grateful!
So my skin is breaking out and I've realized that it looks pretty much lifeless; it's probably tired from all that work and the holiday rush of 2022 plus my SIL is home and I spent as much time with her so most of the time, I lack sleep because we had a lot of things planned (not complaining. I loved every minute of it!). I figured that The Body Shop's Edelweiss would be perfect for my current skin's needs and I'm happy to know that it's been helping my skin bounce back!
Drops of Youth now Edelweiss skin care pretty much has the same formulation because the former contains Edelweiss extract as the main ingredient, except that the latter is much more potent and boosted with better and more skin care ingredients.
But what's up with Edelweiss? Aside from being a song (LOL), Edelweiss is known as a tough beauty because it is a beautiful, white flower that only blooms in the Alpine mountains; the Alps are known for its harsh environment, particularly its grueling winters and yet, the Edelweiss thrives and survives. Edelweiss flower is rich in Leontopodic acid, a supreme antioxidant found in the aerial part of the plant, which helps the flower protect itself from the harsh environment. The Body Sbop's Edelweiss range has utilized the power of Leontopodic acid to restore the skin. Aside from Leontopodic Acid, this skin care range also features Peptides to help firm and regenerate the skin.
To sustainability enthusiasts out there, you may (or may not) know that the Edelweiss flower is listed as endangered due to climate change. I am aware of this as well so I had to know how The Body Shop sources their flowers. I have learned that The Body Shop supports and sources their active ingredient from Edelweiss farmers who are engaged in green farming practices and organic extraction methods. The Body Shop also ensures that their Edelweiss flowers are cultivated away from and not sourced from nationally protected areas where the flower is classified as endangered. Good to know!
Edelweiss skin care features the following products: facial wash, liquid peeling gel, bouncy eye mask, eye concentrate, concentrate (serum), prep essence, face mist, day cream, night cream, sheet mask, and cleanser. It's a pretty extensive range and it's targeted towards individuals with mild aging concerns, dullness, elasticity problems, and those who want to begin slowing down the hands of time with mild aging skin care.
The Body Shop Edelweiss Bouncy Eye Mask (P1,276)- This actually feels like eye cream! It has a bit of stickiness so it can't necessarily function as eye cream, but it's not irritating at all. I like the fact that I've been waking up with more supple under eyes because it helps seal my eye creams, ergo making the moisture locked for longer.
The Body Shop Edelweiss Concentrate (P1,676)- did you know that this is the best- selling serum of the range? This is a light, gel serum that absorbs quickly, but leaves a hint of moisture to the skin. This serum feels really nice.
The Body Shop Edelweiss Liquid Peel (P1,116)- a gel exfoliator that leaves a smooth, glass- like touch to the skin, which I really like. It's not harsh and perfect for those who dislike manual exfoliators. It has a pretty strong alcohol- like odor though so don't apply too much on the nasal area.
The Body Shop Smoothing Day Cream (P1,356)- a light, gel-cream moisturizer that is more suitable for dry skin types because of its texture and thickness, but workable for oily skin. I have oily skin and I have been using it and no breakouts so far. It's very moisturizing, concentrated, and I like that it keeps my face feeling supple during wear.
The Body Shop Edelweiss Intense Smoothing Cream (P1,436)- richer than Smoothing Day Cream, but still tolerable for day use for dry skin types. It's a bit rich for me so I use it as a night cream. It keeps my face moisturized, but doesn't make it oily the next morning.
All the products are formulated for tropical weather because it's light even the intense moisturizers.
I have been using this for two weeks. Save for acne marks and zits, my face is starting to look brighter, fresher, and generally more well- rested again.
Overall, this is a good hydrating skin care range boosted with ingredients that address premature aging concerns. I also recommend this if you think that your skin just looks dull in general because it really revives the skin by plumping it with moisture and antioxidants. Best for dry skin, but semi- oily skin types can enjoy this range too.
Have you tried this skin care range already? What do you think?
