Better late than never! Drunk Elephant has launched around October of last year and shame on me, how could I forget to write about that?? (though I did a couple of videos on Instagram and Tiktok! :D)
Does this brand even need an introduction? Drunk Elephant is arguably one of the most popular contemporary skin care brands in the last decade! But if you've just gotten on the skin care train or you simply just haven't encountered this product yet, here's your handy introduction to one of my most favorite high end skin care brands.
When I created Drunk Elephant, I isolated the most effective ingredients—both synthetic and natural—that directly benefit the health of the skin. I formulated the products using a high percentage of active ingredients at skin-friendly pH levels, and I made sure that all of the ingredients were recognized by the skin and easily absorbed. A routine is only as good as its worst product, and a product only as good as its worst ingredient. In other words, it takes just one bad guy to ruin the party. - Tiffany Masterson, Founder, Drunk Elephant
Tiffany Masterson is the brains behind Drunk Elephant. It all started with a frustration that we all share and that is she can't seem to find skin care that won't break her out and will give her the care and satisfaction that she needed. From hopping from one brand to the next, enduring bad skin, and suffering from what she thought was sensitive skin (turns out that her skin was just sensitized due to product reactions), Tiffany has had enough and finally embarked on a mission to discover what it takes to make good skin care: one that won't compromise on performance and your skin, formulated to be highly beneficial to and highly compatible with a variety of skin types, made thoughtfully to only have the best ingredient cocktails, and are devoid of ingredients that oftentimes cause bad skin reactions.
Drunk Elephant is born out of a common skin care problem that we all can relate with and it's one of the brands whose foundation and philosophy are based on achieving a universal beauty goal and that is to have healthy skin; I think these are the secrets behind its massive success; at the end of the day, as consumers, we just want products that will work and give us healthy skin!
Drunk Elephant prides itself in the product formulation process and they guarantee consumers ingredients that are only optimal for the skin, therefore they follow these principles:
1. Biocompatibility- DE product pH levels are compatible with the skin and this what they meant by 'Biocompatibility.' nothing above 8, nothing below 2 to ensure that the products won't disrupt our skin's pH level too much; their products only have a pH level between 2.5 and 6.8.
2. Ingredient Elimination- Through thorough research and working with experts, Tiffany has identified 6 ingredients that commonly cause adverse skin reactions: essential oils, drying alcohols, silicones, chemical sunscreens, fragrances/dyes, SLES. Because Drunk Elephant
3. Skin care smoothie concept- DE believes that your skin care routine should seamlessly fit into your lifestyle that's why all of Drunk Elephant's products are compatible with each other; you can use 1-3 products from the same or complementing lines together for a quick skin care treat. Great for busy days or days when you can't be bothered to do your full skin care routine! Just check Drunk Elephant's list of skin care smoothie suggestions!
Fun fact: Drunk Elephant's name is inspired by Elephants that get drunk after eating Marula fruit!
Convinced now to try Drunk Elephant? Here's my quick list of their must- try products:
1. TLC FRAMBOOS GLYCOLIC NIGHT SERUM- for acne- prone and oily skin, and if you are experiencing a moderate breakout, this can help. It features 12% AHA to help dislodge pores, smooth the skin, and minimize pimples. This works as a pimple treatment as well.
2. BESTE NO. 9 JELLY CLEANSER- a gentle, non- drying cleanser. This has Cantaloupe extract and Glycerin to fight post- cleansing dryness and has mild surfactants to clean without stripping off essential moisture from the skin.
3. VIRGIN MARULA LUXURY FACIAL OIL- all- natural Marula Oil that can be used on its own or mixed with a majority of DE products for additional moisture and nourishment from the oil's high amino acid content. It's a pretty gentle type of skin care oil as well and won't clog the pores.
4. PROTINI POLYPEPTIDE CREAM- one of DE's best- selling products. Protini is a smoothing cream that helps improve the texture and look for the skin. Best- paired with Protini serum!
