Perricone MD Acyl Glutathione launch

Two weeks ago, I was invited to the press launch of Perricone MD's newest breakthrough line, ACYL GLUTATHIONE.

I'm actually familiar with the brand, but haven't gotten around to trying some of their stuff. Truth be told, they're expensive. But with an impressive clientele including Gwyneth Paltrow and Jennifer Lopez, there must be some justifiable reason as to why Perricone MD's products cost a pretty penny. I had to find out for myself, so I went.

Dr. Nicholas Perricone is like the 'Dr. House' of the skin care world. He is considered as 'The doctor to the stars'. He has been known for his radical discoveries that have changed the face of modern skin care, and as the first doctor to propose that wrinkles are not merely physical signs of aging, but inflammations that are manifestations of more serious body conditions. With award- winning discoveries, published books, 65 patents, and loyal clienteles under his belt, there's no doubt that Dr. Perricone is one of the best skin experts in America. Jane Meredith, Global Skincare expert of Perricone MD, flew in all the way from the US to join us in the launch. She also wanted to explain how important this discovery is to Dr. Perricone and his team. Much like Dr. Perricone, Jane Meredith is also one of the iconic figures in the world of marketing and relations. Here's an excerpt from her bio:

Jane has delivered a comprehensive presentation about the Acyl Glutathione line. Some of the facts are pretty science-y, but I love how she was able to simplify everything without losing the important facts. Now I know why she's highly- regarded for her seminars!

She also demonstrated how to apply Acyl Glutathione Face Cream:

In the Philippines, Glutathione, sadly, has been overlooked as a powerful antioxidant because we have associated it so much with 'Skin Whitening'. According to Dr. Perricone, Glutathione is the body's 'master antioxidant'. We have Glutathione in us, but unfortunately, it depletes rapidly due to environmental aggressors. Acyl Glutathione helps boost your skin's natural Glutathione to keep it looking radiant and youthful.

Sorry for bursting some bubbles, but commercially available Glutathione products are only WATER SOLUBLE, meaning they cannot penetrate deep into our skin to aid it in its renewal process. Dr. Perricone combined Glutathione with Acyl, a fatty acid, which made Acyl Glutathione a FAT SOLUBLE product. As we all know, Fat Soluble products are more effective than Water Soluble products by a huge mile because the former can sink deep into the important layers of the skin. And good news for morenas like me. Jane Meredith said that their Acyl Glutathione can reduce fine lines, but Perricone MD cannot claim that it will help lighten and whiten skin. It was invented to harness Glutathione's powerful Free Radical busting prowess, not to whiten skin nor bring back skin fairness. We have nothing to fear when we use these products because we still get to keep our lovely golden skin. Yay! :)

The Acyl Glutathione line has an eye serum and Face Cream. Both products will be available on May 2012 at Rustan's.
