The Importance of Makeup Removers+Bifesta Cleansing Water Giveaway (CLOSE)
There is this common notion that facial wash and water are enough to remove makeup and keep skin tidy. NOT, especially if you wear heavy and durable makeup. Even if you wear light makeup, you still need a separate cleanser just to be sure that all traces of makeup are out from your pores.

In a microscopic view, you could see that pores are minute openings scattered all over your epidermis-they serve as air pipes of your skin to help maintain its oxygen levels. So those people who are pretty flawless don't mean their pores are tightly shut and invulnerable to dirt attack-that's plain impossible-poreless people still have open pores-it's just that they're not that pronounced.
Picture an hourglass and watch the tiny grains of sand pass right into the tiny hole, filling up the void at the bottom. As time goes by, the bottom gets filled up until there's no more room for anything else, not even oxygen. That's how I think of skin as it faces every new day: It accumulates dirt (and even the makeup you're wearing) all throughout the day and you'd need tough cleansers to take care of them. Water alone is too gentle to surface all the trapped dirt right inside your pores and with facial wash, you wash them off and normally, you don't let them sit on your skin long enough for them to remove all the dirt. The way I see water and facial wash, they're just polishing tools and makeup removers are the cleansing tools. Some could argue that water and facial foam are good enough to clean, but hey, it wouldn't hurt to be double clean with makeup removers, right?

How do makeup removers remove facial dirt exactly? Depending on the substance, makeup removers are powerful dissolvers of waterproof and long- wearing makeup, (e.g. Oil) and most makeup removers contain antibacterial ingredients or extracts that seep right into pores and kill any bacteria that may be residing underneath (e.g. Salicylic Acid). Other benefits include tightening and toning of skin-other makeup removers may also aid your skin in its healing process. (e.g. Brightening, lightening, anti- aging)
There are a lot of makeup removers to choose from, from cheap to expensive and from for normal skin to for sensitive skin. For oily skin, opt for an oil- based, non- comedogenic makeup remover-why oil? Simple. Oil removes oil. For dry skin, a creamy type of cleanser will soften those dry areas so makeup removal would be easy and pain- free. For sensitive skin, please opt for the counterparts intended for your skin type. For normal skin, congratulations, you have all the right to explore the different kinds of makeup remover out there. Personally, I use two types of makeup removers: One for the eyes and one for the skin. The eyes need a gentler and non- sting makeup remover because it is the most sensitive part of the face.
However, there are cases wherein people would break out from oil- based and cream- based makeup removers-maybe it can be caused by certain ingredients, or others just don't wash it off thoroughly and much worse, they don't wash it off at all! You still need to wash off makeup removers because they carry dirt! If this is the case for you, opt for cleansing waters instead such as Bifesta: It's gentle and just like water, but on steroids. :D
I guess the one and only beauty solution that I swear by is to use makeup removers to remove makeup thoroughly. Now before you head to a store and grab a bottle and start a new habit, I'll gladly give you one for free!
