Truly, the best way to combat dark spots is to keep on switching to new spot lightening products and Elizabeth Arden's Visible Whitening Melanin Control Day Essence joins my growing list of tried and tested spot lightening serums. By the way, I'm getting more and more confident now with my skin because my dark spots have been reduced significantly already. :)

Visible Whitening replaces Elizabeth Arden's classic whitening range. It looks more posh and formulation has been improved. It's a complete range that includes a facial wash, toner, moisturizer, day emulsion, night cream, day spot treatment, night spot treatment (comes in capsule form), and even BB Creams for thorough skin brightening. Elizabeth Arden said that this serum helps prevent UV light from accelerating Tyrosinase activity within the skin.

Here are the star ingredients of the Visible Whitening range:

SpectaBright- Botanical hops extract from France that acts on signal reaction from UV light and melanosome transportation to inhibit melanin production
Vitamin C Derivatives- enhances and minimizes skin darkness overtime; antioxidant
Pearl Powders, Mica, Silicone, and Pigment- imparts immediate brightness
A combination of Olive tree extract, Zinc, PCA, stabilized Vitamin C- fights formation of dark spots

More about this super light, makeup- friendly and effective spot lightener after the break! :)

Product only comes in one size and it's a sturdy glass bottle wrapped in a gorgeous silver foil-I like the packaging so much because it's so easy to spot in my dresser. :)

I also like the dropper dispenser because it lets me control the amount of product I take. My only issue is the dropper has limited reach especially when you've hit the bottom of the bottle already-you have to manually shake the remaining liquid out of it so nothing will go to waste.

Product is a very light emulsion- like liquid with a light, uplifting floral smell and hints of liquid shimmer, the secret to its instant brightening effect-this is also why it's best used under makeup because the shimmers reflect light, thus minimizing the appearance of dark spots. It's very moisturizing and it gets absorbed very quickly too. The 30ml bottle has lasted me a good 3 months. I use it once a day only specifically during night time. I know it's supposed to be used during daytime, but I just don't like putting a lot of stuff on my face on this time of day. If you're worrying that the micro shimmers may clog skin during night time, no it won't, based on experience. :)

Check out my results:

Before using the serum

After 3 months

The marks featured in this post are some of my oldest post- acne marks (they're around 3 years old) and nice to know that this serum has lightened 'em up considerably. There were newer marks that popped around the old ones and they showcased the faster result compared to the latter. Aside from the effective lightening effect, it also smoothed out my skin's texture. It works fairly slow and I wish my spots have lightened up completely before finishing the bottle, but at least I know of another effective spot lightening treatment! If you're a fan of Elizabeth Arden's skin care range, you now know which product to get in case you're dealing with hyperpigmentation!

15 Lovely Thoughts

  1. It really does have an effect, wow! and a little bottle really goes a long way. :o I haven't tried any Elizabeth Arden products before, but if I could save up a bit, I'll try to get my hands on one. But is it okay with oily skinned people?

  2. Haven't had any luck on dark spot treatment so far, but my mom swears by this herbal cashew nut-based toner. According to her, her freckles lightened from using it nightly for a month. The big issue is that it stinks! I can smell it all the way from the next room.

Haven't tried any skin care products from Elizabeth Arden, but I'd start with 8-hour cream siguro.

  3. wow that was such an amazing effect.
It's just so expensive for me.
I need to save. It will going to be worth my every centavo

  4. One of the skin problems I'm dealing with right now is hyperpigmentation caused by acne scarring. It's good news to know that there are options to treat this conditions by lightening the appearance of it. I've tried tons of products that claim to help address this condition but sadly, a lot of these don't work on me. Maybe I should consider this essence from Elizabeth Arden's skin care range. Although a bit pricey for a 30ml bottle, I think its worth the splurge since It does lighten up hyperpigmentation within 3 months. Thank you for the review!

  5. A bit expensive for a 30ml bottle but if it lightens that well within 3 months, I think I might reconsider. Pimples pop up every now and getting rid of them is so so sressful because they leave behind ugly dark spots that seem to take forever to go away. I've read some reviews about Elizabeth Arden's skin care and a lot of them are satisfied with the results. I want to try this essence particularly since it does address hyperpigmentation which is one of my major skin probs and because EA is recognized worldwide as a trusted brand. Thank you for this review!

  6. I haven't tried any Elizabeth Arden skon skin care product. This is a little too pricey for me, but seeing in the results in you makes me wanna consider buying it. And yeah, the packaging looks really nice.

  7. I am not using EA for some years...but this product looks interesting! Will certainly check out tomorrow when I am out shopping with the girls. Need to look into a whitening regime as I notice some age spots popping out on my face with all my sun activities. Also my pimple marks ruined my face,  Though its pricey, your face seems to be glowing. And the marks are unnoticeable na. Love the effect! <3

  8. I've tried EA skincare line and out of all the brands i've tried EA def tops my list and it was the only one that suits my skin T_T but the price tag is a bit too much for a college student like me but it was totally worth it

  9. Dark spots are really annoying, specially the marks left by pimples. I apply ice on my face religiously just to lighten them.It takes months to see effects.

Haven't tried this product before, a bit pricey for me, but it's nice to know that it's okay with Asian skin.I've only tried Elizabeth Arden body lotion, which is awesome by the way.

  10. Oh wow. These looks amazing. It looks so posh plus its effective! My only issue is the price but this review of yours really wanna make me try this products.

  11. Woah! That was a dramatic change! I'd love to try this one.. the only thing is, the price is quite too much for my budget to handle. Oh well, I think it will definitely be worth it.

  12. Thanks for the comments girls! This makes whitening serums one of my favorite products to write about because I love showing results (or lack thereof)! :D

Matromao: it's one of the elizabeth arden products that I want to try out too! Nikki of Askmewhats swears by that cream!

  13. "I'm getting more and more confident now with my skin" I'm super happy for you! My biggest insecurity is my skin, glad I found your blog! Love love
